Kyle it's CJR from Sacramento and once upon a time at a sprint car track in NORCAL I expressed to you one day if you really wanted to be the Worlds Best you'd have to attempt and conquer F1.  We all know you have the MAD skills, talent and acument to pursue such a feat and be successful and be 1 of 2 Americans to ever win a F1 Championship, it hasnt been done since 1978 when Mario Andretti did it.

I realize the costs, the sacrifices, the networking and political ramifications of trying to do this but dream big my friend and persevere and it could happen.  I'm sure Chip, Tony and many others would help and advise you, theres many wealthy Americans who would love a F1 cup sitting in good old America,  you talk about key to the city,  NO NO my friend you win a F1 championship and youll have the keys to Europe and World.

I do understand it may not be what your dreams are but consider this, you have one year left on your contract and Chip has asked you what you want to do right?  Your at your peak in age and reflex and abilty.   Once in a lifetime a window of opportunity may open for a lifetime dream, its my own experience those windows close very quickly.

So watching you since your career started I thought Id throw my two cents at you and let you know Ill always support you in your racing career whatever, whenever and however you decide. Your the best I've ever seen and I've seen many, many not good but great ones.. So Kyle I want to wish you and your family a Happy Holidays and please know my thoughts are well intended.

I know it is big time but. How many Americans or for that matter people in the world can name 3 F1 drivers. It is not what it was before rich boys started buying all the rides.

I'd like to see Kyle get a shot at The Indianapolis 500 if he wants it, I believe Chip has a pretty good stable of cars.

He should also run for president, and maybe Pope. Should probably try to get a good run at the Grove first though.

F1 doesn't contain the world's best drivers.....just the world's best human robots capable of millimeter perfect repetition.  Put any of them in a sprint or silver crown car on dirt and they would struggle trying to adapt to changing track conditions and "the perfect lap"

I met a former sports car racer who went over to dirt racing at EMMR museum in Pa. Wish I could remember his name... great stories! He said he had to put 10 guys into the wall at dirt tracks to prove he wasn't gay....

Yea, cool guy, loved his stories

How about his car? 700HP Challenger? (I think...) Is it 6 or 8 speed paddle shift? Variable cam timing... G force meter! I asked him if he ever paid attention to it.... of course not! wink

Larson going to F1 at this point in his career is virtually impossible. You have to have an FIA Super License, which is done by accumulating points in a lower tiered series. They will award super license points for competing in NASCAR, but even if you win the championship, it doesn't amount to much because the skillset is so different. So for Larson to get to F1, he'd literally have to restart his career and find a ride in a lower level single seater series and work his way up that ladder, just like Alexander Rossi did (fun fact: Larson and Rossi actually raced go karts against each other when they were kids). The only problem is that Larson would be getting too late of a start at this point of his career and would also have to bring a pile of money/sponsorships to even get a ride. Formula 1 has to be a goal from youth and there's no way to get there by racing in America.

You can read up on the FIA Super License system here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIA_Super_Licence

Lets face it, original poster is probably living in a dream world..... wink

However, it just struck me... didn't Mario Andretti race & win at everything from dirt to F1?

Also, there have already been 2 American F1 champions - Phil Hill in 1961 and Mario in 1978.  Larson (or whichever American does it next) would be the 3rd.
