I hope you are looking up at the same night sky that I am, having a snifter of Brandy, smoking a fine cigar, (or blazing a fat bowl if you're into that sort of thing).  Just celebrate. Donny did this for you. For us. He did it for us Minthess. Lets get weird.

From what I remember, the TSR Ford wasn’t good enough for him and he had a bitch about that as well, and the only true Ford in a sprint car had been the FoMoCo engines between the rails in the Luna 10’s. I could be wrong though, as all I basically remember about that guy is he whined a lot. Either way, happy to see the Ford in victory lane, and, I’m guessing, there is a 61% chance this thread may spiral outta control.

Any money or interest that can be generated for the sport from major money is a plus.

Lets hope in the long run it helps

I laughed.

Minthess is still around. He was last seen on this board selling Casey Luna #10 t-shirts.

Good to see some variety! (pseudo Ford beating pseudo Chevy for the first time in 21 yrs.) I'm something of a Ford fan anyway....

Only problem with Minthess is that he was obsessed with the whole issue & couldn't let it go

I'm glad, but its not gonna change my life much wink.... at all

21 years since Jeff Swindell won a race with a Ford? I remember that year vividly.  You never knew which engine Jeff had in his sprint car night in and night out, the Chevy or the Ford.  He used both.  He busted a lot of motors that year.

Lets not get carried away with this "Ford" engine.  It seems you get crucified for using the word Chevy when describing a sprint car engine but now its OK to call Schatz's sprint motor a Ford.  It has nothing at all in common with any Ford engine previously built or being used today in a Ford truck or car while we know the "other" motor in every other sprint car, as Flat Out magazine writer and Sprint Car National Hall of Fame member (nducted last year) stated in his Flat Out article two years ago, "the same basic Chevrolet small block engine, which is in 99% of Sprint Cars today is the engine that sat in the frame rails of a Chevy car in 1956".  Of course it has expensive internal parts to cope with constant high RPMs that sprint cars need and bigger cubic inches, all of which a production car/truck does not need.  This Ford engine came about much like the Chevrolet engine which won so many Indy car races and Indy 500s in the 70s/80s.  Chevy only paid Illmor to build the motor to confrim to the Indy Car series rules.  Likewise Ford only paid someone to build a motor that could compete in sprint car racing.

He's still obsessed. He must've retweeted every single thing anyone on Twitter said about Donny winning with the Ford. Same thing when the Ford first hit the track. Never in my life have I seen or known of anyone who has such a sickness. He's like a stalker only he doesn't stalk people, he stalks Ford engines. I'm glad to see some variety too but I'm just glad I don't wake up every morning with whatever it is he has going on.

Agreed doesn't change my life either. Never mattered to me what "manufacturer's" engine was in who's car for me, nor does it matter if they have a Chevy sticker with a Ford engine, Ford body with a Mopar engine, Toyota stickers with a Honda engine, etc. It is not like you can buy a sprint car in a showroom or that the engines in a sprint car are anything like you can put in your car and could never grasp why so many people got bent out of shape about it. If you are loyal to a brand for any commodity, you are going to buy it no matter what is advertised. If you are loyal to a driver you are going to pull for them even if you like Miller Lite the car is sponsored by Miller Lite but you see the driver always drinking Bud Lite. All of the complaining about "Chevy" engine with Ford sponsorship just seemed petty in my opinion and was only an issue because it is Donny Schatz and TSR. Had JJR or Shark racing had this done hardly anyone would have brought this up.

Well, some people still enjoy nuance and the technical side of the sport, even if it's just a slightly different spacing of an exhaust port. But I do understand it's mostly all about merch, Vans shoes, custom painted helmets, more merch, windbreakers, and selfies.
