Did everyone notice that they gave Donny like 10 mins during caution. What the hell happened to the 2 minute rule. Can tell you if it was Sammy or anyone else they would have not waited for them. Favorites go figure!!

I'm not sure it was that long TBH. Watching it felt like it, but the only way I could think to time it with no full broadcast replay was to look at the Knoxville tweet timestamps as they were on the action pretty good. The tweet about the caution is posted at 11:06 p.m., and the tweet about Schatz pushing back off was 11:11 p.m., so only five minutes based on that. I know that's not a very scientific way to do it, but I can't think of any better with out a VOD broadcast.

(I'm not a Schatz fan BTW, so no bias here)

I will add, they did not get Schatz's car back to the work area very quickly after the yellow flew either.  I would say 2-3 minutes as he stopped at the exit of 2 and it seemed like a SLOW push back to the pits.  I also felt like it was extra time BUT, it may be because the caution had taken place way before the car got to the pits.

I did see Doug give the 1 to go and the caution lights went out, then popped back on.  I don't know why this was.  Was someone not lined up correctly?  Did they realize they did not give him the full 2 minutes?  I don't know.

What the rules are:

Work Area

World of Outlaws Sprint Cars

When the yellow flag is displayed a two (2) minute period will be permitted for the repairs of any race damage. The time will begin once the car has reached the designated work area. The car will rejoin the field at the tail of the lap it’s on once the work has been completed at the direction of Series Officials. After the completion of half way the two-minute period will no longer be in effect.

Ive seen that before...not sure of races (cause Im old) but I recall a race in cali where they gave a local quite a while to get back out and a couple years ago Sweet got a long 2 minutes.  It happens.

I was there watching it and it was a little longer than normal.   However, it was very slow getting him back to the pits to begin with.   Even if they did give him a little longer it didn't make that much difference IMO.    I could already see that Donny wasn't be a big factor in the outcome of the race.   He wouldn't have had anything for Gravel, Schucart, or Pittman.

Right or wrong... its a business. They are going to make their decisions based off what is best for themselves and the show, and that is Donny Schatz in the Knoxville Nationals. Yes it was longer than 2 minutes, and no it wouldnt have been granted to anyone other than him and maybe 2-3 other cars. Doesnt even pay to complain about it, because they will always take care of those who put butts in the seats and money in their pockets.

I thought it was 2 courtesy laps and not a set time. They also pushed him from turn 2 with a 4 wheeler and they went around on the track so that took some time. I figured he would cut thru the pits to save time but they didn't.

Maybe some of you dipshits will eventually figure out that the race is a Knoxville show and not WoO show.

Many of the "dipshits" you speak of are simply questioning the 2 minute work area rule.  It doesn't matter whose show it is, Gibson announced (many times over the course of the week) "he will be headed to the work area where he will be allowed a guaranteed 2 minutes"   I am not agreeing or disagreeing that Schatz got more time.  Just stating WoO and Knoxville work area time limit is identical, so your response has no bearing on this argument.

When you start to question the integrity and character of people like this person did expect comments like mine. I stand by calling some of you dipshits because it fits perfectly.

I am 100% positive, Schatz wasnt the first nor will he be the last driver to benefit from a little extra time in work area.

Key word = "GUARANTEED". They were guaranteed 2 minutes. Meaning it would be at least that long. He doesn't say "Maximum".

I don't mind bending the rules a bit that early in the race so everyone at least gets a fair shot if it's something like packed mud.

I'm not questioning anyone's integrity.  It's a show, an entertainment venue and the production teams goal is to provide entertainment . They are bot obligated to operate the exact same every times a similar situation arises.

It doesnt matter how long it takes to get to the pit and the race officials would do themselves a lot of harm by timing Schatz out by 2 seconds  when most of the 21000 people want to see if he can get to the front.

They are providing entertainment to people who paid to see the best race and overcome adversity. They didnt pay the money and take a week holidays to see tech officials scan the rule book and administer it with a stop watch.

False.

Rules are in place so everybody is treated the same. #15 is just another driver and car when the green flag drops. He has to adhere to the same rules. If he was to get special treatment, then why not have Clark wave that never used blue and yellow move over flag so DS can get around some lapped traffic easier too?

GTFO with special treatment and its for the "show". I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the fans there wouldnt care less if DS didnt come out of the B.  That A feature is great regardless of who is in it.....always.
