Apparently my concerns about fellow AARP member Sammy Swindell were premature.   Starting on the pole of the King's Royal at 63, win one for us old guys!

Said before and I'll say it again, Sammy can still get it done. To sit on the pole of this race in a car he's only driven a handful of laps in against that field, is an accomplishment in itself regardless of where he ends up finishing.

Gosh, I feel bad to argue against Sammy. I've taking much more a liking to him in the past few years, and his antics tonight reinforced that. I'm sure the guy is still cutthroat competitive but he's toned it down a ton and been way more personable off the track.

That being said - qualified 32/62, started pole of his heat and did win, which is better than most of the other polesetters can say, but it's such an advantage in clean air. He fell back in the feature and captured a respectable finish.

If the question asked is Sammy still competitive? Absolutely. If the question is if Sammy is still a threat? Hard to give him that.

Under a normal Outlaw format, he'd have been buried in his heat. That changes the whole night.

Wow! A lucky result of a format where drivers want the bad ones up front. And then goes backwards through 25% of the field. So impressive!

I don't know, but you could start a separate thread on it since it has no bearing on this topic whatsoever? Incompetence. The first sign of a Swindell fan.

Well tough boy, and I do mean boy.  The greatest WoO driver Schatz started second, beside Sammy and finished 6th, one spot ahead. So for you to say he dropped like a rock, or whatever World of Warcraft terminology you used, makes no sense.  You couldn't be a bigger asshole and clearly need to have your ass beat.  Will your husband let you out one night so we can make that happen?

You are incorrect in thinking he would have been buried in his heat. Just the opposite. The field would have been split into two flights of 31 and 31 so if he was 32 fastest car, he would have been the fastest in flight two and starting up front. Not arguing with ya as I see you don't hate on Sammy like others but just pointing that out.  Still a great night, no matter what douchebags like j20s say.

Thats not how the two flight system works.

Based on where they would have split the field in the two flight system, Sammy would have timed 14th out of 31.

Duh, good point.  I was thinking in the most simplistic way lol.  That's why you don't get on message boards prior to your first pot of coffee.  Unless of course you are telling off idiots like j20s, in which case it's ok.

so a guy that’s 63 going on 64 takes a car that he has been in exactly twice for his son who has a mid to low level funded team and wins his heat..starts on the pole...leads for 12 or 13 laps races and finishes just outside the top 5 in the biggest race of the year against all the best funded teams and people still want to hate?..to those people I say FTFO..!

#stillwinning!

The only way your inbred mind works is simplistic. At least you have now admitted it.

Come on tough guy. Bring your loud mouth, fat ass out of your mommy's basement and get a good old fashioned ass kicking.  Of course I may be charged with a hate crime, but oh well.  Put up or shut up asshole.

First non-Outlaw and he’s 63! Only haters wouldn’t be able to congratulate Sammy on that accomplishment.
