‘BANDITS FEATURED in ‘GRAND OPENING 25’ at the NEW BUFFALO CREEK SPEEDWAY – SAT. MAY 4th!

Canton, TX (04/18/19) by DarinShort.com. The 360C.I. NCRA Sprint Car Bandits (SCB) series 2019 ‘DARE TO BE DIFFERENT’ Tour is headed to the brand new 1/4-mile dirt oval of Buffalo Creek Speedway (BCS) in Canton Texas Saturday, May 4th with the running of the ‘Grand Opening 25.’ All SCB teams will draw in and qualify in their heat races as normal, with normal series passing points.

The night will kick off with the SCB Fan Fest behind the grandstands from 6:30 until about 7:15pm, with racing to follow. The new facility offers obstruction-free viewing from any seat, a unique ‘standing room’ viewing area on the front stretch and true ‘in your face’ racing action – all in the confines of a Texas ‘country’ style atmosphere.

:30 BCS Rewind: At the epicenter of the 1980's rebirth to the modern Deep Ellum scene in downtown Dallas, Texas, Russell Hobbs has been at the forefront of it all, by creating, launching and operating businesses such as Theatre Gallery, The Prophet Bar and The Door.  About 15 years ago, Hobbs opened Buffalo Creek MX Park in Canton, and the new Buffalo Creek Speedway is contained within the sprawling property that features lots of trees and natural country Texas scenery. It is truly a unique setting for dirt track racing.

Russell Hobbs comments: “It’s been my dream since I was a youngster to build, own and operate a dirt oval track, and this has been quite the experience so far. I’m thankful to have some behind-the-scenes people and staff that have helped quick-start the process so we could avoid as many of the learning curve challenges as possible. And I always wanted to host a sprint car event, and since I contacted the Sprint Car Bandits series early in December, they have been very helpful and resourceful in bringing that dream to a reality. Our goal is to have an exciting sprint car racing event on May 4th and we’re continuing to complete project work on the facility in the days leading up to the event. We welcome everyone to come check out the track and facility at our next regularly scheduled event, which is Friday April 26th. I'd also like to thank Hall Chevrolet, Buick and GM of Canton/Tyler, Whitehouse Tuning of Terrell and RockAuto.com for their support of the speedway.”

RACE FANS: Make plans to arrive early at the track to take in the pre-race Sprint Car Bandits “Fierce 15” Fan Fest! It will take place directly in front of the grandstand from 6:30pm until about 7:15pm. There, you can meet the drivers of the Fierce 15, get selfies, purchase their 2019 t-shirt designs (get them autographed!) and get a good close look at the cars. SCB Fan Fest is an effort to help sprint car racing get back to the good ‘ol days when there was generally more fan interaction with the race teams. Back then it was common for most of the fans to go to the pits after the races to meet with the teams, and now in many cases the races at tracks don’t finish in time to make that feasible. This is an effort to fire back up that interaction by simply flipping the timing element. Pre-race Fan Fest will take place at every SCB series event in 2019. The timing of this event also coincides with the popular ‘First Monday Trade Days’ event, which is located literally less than a 10-minute drive from BCS on Hwy 19 within the Canton city limits, so you might want to make a day of it by stopping by it on your way to the races!

If you’d like to get your brand new Fierce 15 driver t-shirts prior to Fan Fest, the new online store at www.SprintCarBandits.com is now open. Reminder, that proceeds from Fierce 15 driver apparel benefits each individual driver that is a part of the program, so please show your support by grabbing one when you can...and your support will help drivers better funded throughout the season.

The following drivers make up the 2019 Sprint Car Bandits Fierce 15 and will be competing for added money for their support of the series: Colby Estes, Michael Day, Claud Estes III, Dalton Stevens, Scott Evans, Chance McCrary, Dale Wester, Junior Jenkins, Cody Hall, Josh Hawkins, Casey Burkham, Steve McMackin, Will Eggimann, Mark Zoeller and Mark Huddleston. Fans can expect to see these drivers competing in 2019 Sprint Car Bandits series events, along with any eligible sprint car driver that chooses to on a night-to-night basis, just as in previous seasons. Drivers interested in the Sprint Car Bandits Fierce 15 program can contact [email protected] for additional information.

Buffalo Creek Speedway is located at 10180 State Highway 19 in Canton and is very easy to get to. Just take the Hwy 19 exit from either direction off I-20 in Canton, then head north approximately four miles and the track entrance will be on the west (left) side of the road. It is also just a short 10-minute drive from the popular First Monday Trade Days in Canton. From Hwy 80, just exit South on Hwy 19 and go three miles south and you will see the track entrance on the West (right) side of the highway. Click www.BCS19.com for all track news and details.

Adult G.A. (ages 12-64) tickets for this event are sold at the ticket booth on race night only and are $20. Grandstand kids (ages 6-11) are $5, and pit passes are $35. Senior/Active Military G.A. to this event is $15.

SPRINT CAR TEAMS: The standard posted Sprint Car Bandits event purse is in effect. All non-qualifiers or non-starters will each receive $100. There is no entry fee, no series membership fee and a $20 nightly draw fee. Drivers should go to www.SprintCarBandits.com prior to arrival for complete rules, purse and procedures information.  All sprint car teams that sign in will draw for heat race starting positions, regardless of their engine C.I. displacement (up to and including 360C.I.) and will receive passing points to determine their straight-up from points feature race starting position.

BCS division payback for this event:

Limited Modifieds, Texas Stocks & Factory Stocks (same purse structure, each division): $500 – 300 – 200 – 160 – 120 – 100 – 90 – 80 – 70…to start.

4-Cylinders (FWD & RWD will compete in two separate divisions with two separate purses): $200 – 160 – 120 – 100 – 80 – 60 – 50 – 40…to start.

BCS Non-qualifiers or non-starters will receive $30 each in all divisions. If a driver chooses to compete in more than one division on the same night, the driver must purchase an additional pit pass per division entered. On regularly scheduled events, if 11 or fewer cars in a division are signed in, the posted purse structure for that division on that night will start at 2nd place pay and continue down from that point on in their respective posted purse schedules.

If the races rain out before the completion of the heat races, hold on to your ticket stub, as it will be valid for the next scheduled race and exchanged for the same dollar ticket price value (in other words, if tickets that night were $15, the next event you will have a $15 credit when you redeem your ticket stub from the previous event). Regarding pit passes, if the races rain out after the heat races, the event is considered complete, and any remaining races will not be rescheduled and all drivers will receive their posted start money in their scheduled division that night (for any of the feature events that rained out). If the races rain out during the heat races, pit passes will be worth dollar-for-dollar credit to the next BCS event. There will be no grandstand tickets valid for a future date if races are rained out after the completion of heat races.

For track rules and details, go to www.BCS19.com . BCS has no sanctioning fees, just a $30 annual car registration fee (per division).

Buffalo Creek Speedway is a brand-new venue and track amenities will continue to be built as time moves forward. For now, there will be hot grilled food items, soft drinks, bottled water, candy; etc. all at very economical prices.

Small outside food and drink coolers are allowed through the grandstand gate for a $5 charge. They cannot contain any glass items. There will be a separate section in the grandstand for fans of legal age to drink beer/wine coolers that they bring in a small drink cooler. On special events or nights where seating is limited, small drink coolers must fit between your legs and not take up a seat in the grandstand.

This event is also part of the www.SmileysRacing.com 4 Pack Bonus program that awards the SCB Fierce 15 teams with added bonus money, paid out for their support of the Series in increments of each ‘4 Pack’ of SCB events completed throughout the season. More details are posted at the series website.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT: Why are we calling this season the ‘DARE TO BE DIFFERENT’ tour? The SCB series has a unique rules package that allows teams to use their current equipment (especially in the engine compartment) yet curbing nightly tire expense...which helps equalize the competition with teams of varying budget sizes. The SCB “20° wing angle rule” also helps by freeing up the cars to be able to pass easier in many cases that also helps reduce excess tire and engine wear. Our ‘one rear tire all night long’ rule has not only saved racers thousands of dollars over the past three years, but to date, we’ve yet to have one tire fail (blow) due to excess tire wear in any feature race we’ve held.

All these small, yet effective changes, have been accomplished without the racers having to purchase something out of the ordinary. And we essentially haven’t changed the rules since the inception of the series at the end of 2015.

And let’s face it, since the events of 9/11/2001, a lot of the economics of the sport of dirt track racing have changed drastically (especially the cost of travel, track insurance, general crowd sizes, cost of racing components), yet there really hasn’t been much being done on a nationwide level to help counteract those economic impacts. We aren’t trying to say we’ve ‘fixed’ all those impacts, but at least we are doing something to help curb racer expenses – and it’s working.

Our rules package certainly has made for exciting and unpredictable racing outcomes – as there were 13 different feature winners in 16 SCB events in 2018 – and we already had a brand-new, first-time winner at our opening event of 2019, so that makes 14 different winners the past 17 events! When you add these components together, that’s a result of why we DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.

Click www.SprintCarBandits.com for the latest in series news and where the DARE TO BE DIFFERENT Tour is headed to next. You can also reach the SCB on Facebook, at www.Facebook.com/SprintCarBandits .

If your business is interested in getting involved with the SCB series, please email [email protected] for more information. There are effective programs available for all sizes of budgets.
