The Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards announces 2019 schedule of events

By Gary Thomas

Placerville, CA – December 25, 2018…The office of Russell Motorsports Inc., with a little help from Santa, has officially delivered the schedule of events for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards, which is geared up to enter its third season of competition in 2019.

With great cooperation from promoters there will again be no conflicts between SCCT and the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series, allowing teams to compete for both titles. In addition to that there will be a record four shows held in conjunction with KWS-NARC, bringing the best of the best in the Golden State to the same track on the same night. The California based Winged 360 Sprint Car tour is happy to welcome back Elk Grove Ford, Abreu Vineyards and Hoosier Racing Tires as major sponsors for the upcoming season.

The season will kick-off with the first of two appearances at the always exciting red clay bullring of Placerville Speedway on Saturday March 30. The Sprint Car Challenge Tour will then return to Placerville on Saturday June 29 for the second annual Salute to the Fans alongside the King of the West-NARC 410 Sprint Cars. The inaugural running last season was an action-packed night of Winged Sprint Car racing and will certainly be one of the can’t miss events in 2019.

The highest paying weekend of the Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards season will take place on Friday and Saturday April 12 and 13 at the Stockton Dirt Track. The much anticipated second annual Asparagus Cup is set to award $10,000-to-win on opening night and a whopping $15,000-to-win the finale, while each night pays $800-to-start the feature.

The event is held in conjunction with the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, which features amazing food, great musical acts, rides for the kids and much more. Following the Asparagus Cup the tour will be in action at the Stockton Dirt Track for additional events on Saturday July 6 during the fourth annual Salute to LeRoy Van Conett and Saturday November 2 for the 36th annual Tribute to Gary Patterson, which doubles as championship night for both SCCT and the King of the West-NARC 410 Sprint Cars.

The always hooked up and tacky Petaluma Speedway will play host to a pair of Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards events in 2019. The first takes place on Saturday April 27 and the second will be a special Sunday show on June 30. Both races last season at the Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds 3/8-mile clay oval were barnburners and much of the same is expected this year.

For the third consecutive season the Sprint Car Challenge Tour will be a part of the annual Peter Murphy Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. This year however, the tour is locked and loaded to compete both nights during the prestigious event on Friday and Saturday May 17 and 18. Opening night will find the USAC West Coast Wingless 360 Sprint Cars in action alongside SCCT, while Saturday will see the King of the West-NARC 410 Sprint Cars also on the card.

The Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford will once again host a pair of Sprint Car Challenge Tour events in 2019. The tour will tackle the widest racing surface in California on Saturday June 15 and return on Saturday October 12 for the 34th annual Cotton Classic alongside the King of the West-NARC 410 Sprint Cars. The Cotton Classic is one of the longest running events in the Central Valley and opens a huge two weeks of racing, with the annual Trophy Cup taking place the following weekend in Tulare.

A new track to the mix this season will be the Merced Speedway, which hosts the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for the first time on Saturday August 3. The centrally located quarter-mile should provide extremely close non-stop action during the night.

The Sprint Car Challenge Tour is operated under the Russell Motorsports Inc. banner, which also manages the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California. For sponsorship opportunities and inquiries, RMI can be reached at 530-344-7592 or [email protected]

What a great Christmas present! We are very lucky in California that we have lots of 360 and 410 races to choose from. Between the World of Outlaws, KWS, SCCT, and local shows we have races starting Jan 26th until the first week of November, plus Turkey night! No wonder soo many great racers started their racing career in CA. Smile

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!
