Josh Schneiderman – A Strong Showing at Nationals

Des Moines, IA (August 15, 2018) – Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 are coming off the long week of the Knoxville Nationals proud of the speed they showed in their three nights on the track. They will test the 360 waters this Saturday night, competing with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, before wrapping up the Knoxville season on August 25th.

The all-important pill draw on Josh’s preliminary night didn’t treat the Deuce team too kindly, sending them off 31st in the time trial order Thursday night. “The pill draw hurt us a bit on our qualifying night,” said Schneiderman. “It always seems to be more important on the Thursday qualifying night, as the track tends to fall off faster than the Wednesday show.”

Taking to the track in the back half of the qualifying order, “The Professor” managed to clock a respectable lap and set himself up well to transfer to the night’s main event. “Our heat felt pretty good,” said Josh. “We started third and finished third, which is a pretty solid accomplishment at the Nationals since you have the heavy hitters trying to chase you down.”

After a solid start, the night would come to a swift end for the World of Wheels #49, as contact on the opening circuit of the A-main sent Josh into the backstretch wall. “I got off to a great start in the feature and passed a couple cars, but the car behind me hooked us on the right rear and turned me into the wall,” said Schneiderman. “Honestly, I was lucky to keep it on all four wheels, but it was heavy contact and did quite a bit of damage. It’s frustrating we didn’t have the chance to see what we could have done over 25 laps, because the car was feeling great.”

While it was an early end to the A-main for the Deuce Motorsports team, the work was far from over, as they were tasked with getting the car ready to roll for Friday night’s “Hard Knox” qualifier. “We had to rebuild the whole rear-end of the car for Friday and it took us until about 4:00 PM before it was ready,” said Josh.

Once they had the car ready to roll, Friday started with Josh again pulling a pill that left him in the back half of his qualifying group, but was able to stop the clock with a time putting him in the invert and leading to a heat race victory. “We qualified really well on Friday,” said Josh. “Our time was good enough to make the 4-car invert and it always feels good to grab a win, no matter the race.”

Schneiderman rolled off 17th in Friday’s A-main and had the Universal Therapy Group car moving towards a top ten, before making the wrong call. “We were moving through the field well and I was up to the 12th spot, racing with Jason Sides for 11th,” said Josh. “Then I just made the wrong decision; we had been going forward on the bottom, but I moved up to the top and faded a bit, ending in fifteenth.”

Josh’s Friday night finish locked him into the Saturday night B-main, where he would be starting from the outside of the tenth row. “The far felt pretty fast in hot laps, but when the race started I just didn’t attack the track the way that I needed to early,” said Schneiderman. “By the time that I got going the way I needed to, the cars were pretty spread out and it was just too late.”

“The Professor” and the Deuce Motorsports team will drop in their 360 motor this weekend to run with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway, before returning to Knoxville Raceway on August 25th for Season Championship night!
