Ok the #15 car is the favorite, let's move past that.  Then you have a few guys that have a puncher's chance (Gravel, Sweet, Larson, Brown, Stewart).  What I want to know is who's your sleeper pick?  We know the magic can happen at this place (Allen, Kraig Kinser, Shaffer, Johnson).  So if the stars aligned just right to let cinderella story happen, who would it be?  Let's say two or three drivers per response.  I got a couple to start . . . Davey Heskin and/or Jacob Allen.  Heskin flat out passes cars, and has come charging from the back before.  Allen has had some more speed than usual this year, and man who wouldn't love to see victory lane celebration?  And go...

Brooke Tatnell lives near me in Forest Lake, Minnesota, so he's my pick.  Got to support the guys from the neighborhood.  wink

Outside of the 5 you've already mentioned I think you have to watch for the guys that have a lot of laps at Knoxville, and  are still considered sleepers....

TMac

AMac (future track champ)

Ian Madsen

Kerry Madsen

Brooke, and Lynton as well..so basically all the aussies lol

Larson might've beat Schatz last year if he hadn't scraped the wall in turn 4 coming down for the white flag.   Gravel also had the speed to beat Schatz last year.   So I wouldn't look at those guys as sleepers.     I think Brown and Stewart fall more into the sleeper category.    Of course Brown passed Schatz on lap 44 a few years ago, and I'd love to see him do it.

Aaron Reutzel found something in last years Nationals A main and charged into the top 10.  He has been fast since that time & he is my darkhorse this year.

Austin McCarl.  Of course, barring a accident or mechanical, the 15 will be up there.  I feel like Gravel and Brown get way too pumped up or something and usually make a mistake.  It seems to only take 1 mistake and the 15 takes advantage.

Also another "sleeper" (if you can call him that) is Shaffer(sp) runs well there and can find the speed.

I would think if I'm handicapping the Nationals it'd look something like Schatz -200, Larson +110, Gravel +500, Brown +700, Sweet +750, Stewart +800, Tim Shaffer +900, Aaron Reutzel +975, Kerry Madsen +1000, Ian Madsen +1000, Daryn Pittman +1050, Schuchart +1200, Rico +1250, Sheldon Haud +1400, Carson Macedo +1500, Cory Eliason +1500, Terry McCarl +1600,  Austin McCarl +1750, Jacob Allen +2000, Davey Heskin +2200. Field +4500.

I set this as if I was offering real action, though I'm no expert at this, I don't know that I'd bet this if offered. JMO. Probably misisng someone as well.

I can literally think of 15-20 ish people capable of pulling this off. Top 10 in points in the WoO, 4 Knoxville guys (AMAC, TMAC, Brown, K Madsen), 3 PA guys (DD, Shaffer, and Hodnett) , 3 outsiders (Reutzel, Eliason,Larson). Pretty sure the winner will come from that 20. It awesome this many people are capable.

None of these guys are real sleepers in my book. Capable of winning any race, anywhere. Biggest sleeper pick out of those however would be Eliason and Reutzel. They are showing crazy speed and are starting to get noticed by us die hard sprint car fans but are relatively unknown among casual fans.

Outside my top 20, Lynton Jeffery, Heskins, and Tatnell. Lynton might have made a good sleeper pick but after the Donny incident replicating the speed they had that night has been hard to comes by. I won't say these guys can't do it but I'm thinking its fairly unlikely.

Im also forgeting about Macedo... Very curious to see this team together before making an opinion but wouldn't be surprised if they are very competitive.

Tehe that's funny right there. I don't care who you are. Needing the cash to pull out West should no longer be an excuse after tonight. Health reasons... I could see that if it was true but I honestly don't know. The excuses to not come seem to be unending and each year that goes by it seems less and less likely. I truly think they could be good there if they would choose to come. # 69ktoknoxville
