Kudos go to Dean Knittel's family and Atomic Speedway owner, Brad McCown for the June 30th memorial race. Despite a lot of racing activity that night, the event drew a stellar field and the Knittel's presented a premier event. Spencer Bayston, driving for Kevin Swindell collected $10,916 for his dominance in the event. He set fast time with a 11.53 lap of the 3/8ths facility and powered around the rim flawlessly in the 35 lap feature. Cole Duncan pursued closely the entire race and pulled alongside (and maybe nosed ahead momentarily) on the last lap. $2200 was raised for the Jason Johnson family with donations and t-shirt sales. A check will be presented to his wife, Bobbi at the Knoxville Natonals. Dean's son, Jeff says an announcement is forthcoming for the 2nd annual event which will be held next year. This year's $36,0000 purse will no doubt be increased.
