Just curious as to who runs Pa. Speedweek? Who decides which tracks, format, etc.?
No ax to grind or point to make, just wondering....

Alan Kreitzer.
He is the promoter of Lincoln Speedway (2 speedweeks shows) and Selinsgrove Speedway (1 speedweeks show).

Should replace Hagerstown with BAPS IMO. While dust issue needs addressed, the racing is usually good.

Personally, I am not a fan of Lincoln & Port Royal having two Speedweek races. It makes sense for Williams Grove. Many fans agree with me. Im OK with keeping Hagerstown, adding BAPS and another track to make it a TRUE Speedweek.

I have said many times that without the Grove, Lincoln and Port no other tracks would have any. They have their regulars to make a desent field and they also pay more than the others. There are seven tracks involved. It does seem as though there are complaints about the racing at Hagerstown most years. I am not sure how thyey stay in it.

Selinsgrove will be lucky to get 20 total cars for the last night.

This is what PA Speedweek should look like ....
Sat- Lincoln
Sun- Path Valley
Mon- Bedford or Trailway
Tues- Grandview
Wed- Hagerstown
Thurs- BAPS
Fri- Williams Grove
Sat- Port Royal
Sun- Selinsgrove
Why we can't make this happen is beyond me. If ya wanna throw WG in there on Friday to open it up, fine. I understand that they're trying to help out our "big 3" tracks but let's find some other way to do that. Cmon Alan, let's make Speedweek great again.

I will tell you another reason Lincoln and Port get the second night. They both give up a Sat. of 410's for speedweek. If they get one night as many suggest, what do they really gain by being part of it. If it rains their night out they lose out all together. There was a time when Selingrove had weekly 410 racing that Lincoln got the first Sat. and Selinsgrove the second. Port gave up Two Sat. for a midweek Speedweek date. They went a year or two when they didn't take a Speedweek show and just ran their regular schedule and took a Western Pa. Speedweek date when they ran that. Moral of the story is that if the Grove, Lincoln and Port don't make out on Speedweek there will be no Speedweek so everyone might as well get over it.

From the fans point of view....that is the exact schedule they would like to see.....the folks travelling from out of town would like to see this same type of schedule. That is the lore of the Ohio Speedweek, but with alot less travel involved. From the promotors point of view I can see why the BIG 3 (WG, Lincoln and Port Royal) would want to have two Speedweek shows. The Speedweek races make them $$$$.

Here's what I'd do if I was promoting PA Speedweek:
I'd hire Alan Kreitzer and give him the keys. He forgot more about promoting races than most, if any, know. Whatever he does is probably as good as it gets.

Here is an idea for a true Pennsylvania Speedweek, all of Pennsylvania.
Thursday. BAPS
Friday. WILLIAMS GROVE
Saturday. LINCOLN
Sunday. SELINSGROVE
Tuesday. BIG DIAMOND
Wednesday GRANDVIEW
Friday. LERNERVILLE
Saturday. PPMS
Sunday. SHARON
Wednesday. HAGERSTOWN
Thursday. BEDFORD
Friday. PATH VALLEY
Saturday. PORT ROYAL (Big Finally)
All the races pay no less than $7000 to win , $1000 for 10th and $ 500 to start. Because The Grove, Lincoln and Port are losing a race the other tracks can pay a sanction fee to them.
I know Ohio is a smaller state but in my opinion this could be the king of speedweeks if the pay is good and the point fund is worth it even to finish 15th.

How many teams could afford to follow that long of schedule with time off from work, etc? Your Speedweek is too long as it is. Many on here who are from PA have stated that there are too many races already in PA for the 410s. When you have a PA Speedweek show that only draws a car count in the 20's, I can't see that many PA tracks ponying-up that kind of purse (like a Big Diamond).
Ohio Speedweek works because of many reasons, one of which it has a major sanctioning body behind it, and car counts in the 30s, 40s, and sometimes 50s.

I used to like the Big Diamond shows but the last couple times I was there (for the USAC races), you couldn't see a damn thing through the dust. I don't know if they've got that issue under control yet but that used to be a really good track for sprints with a great view of the track. No use complaining about the schedule, it's pretty good. I do think the Saturday shows should pay 10G since they draw ginormous crowds and usually the best fields. If Path Valley can pay 10G, I have no idea why Port and Lincoln can't.

Totally agree. Look at where Williams Grove was when he was there and where it is now. Lincoln has been successful for decades in large part because he is involved. He's as good as they get. He is a big reason why Central PA is what it is.

Sign me up for Trailways! Damn near scary watching 410s slinging it in from the T1/2 bleachers.

Right now there are 14 teams attempting to run all the races if they all make it I am sure that Selinsgrove will be able to ad 10 cars to make a feild of 24.
With the All Stars at Sharon on Saturday one or two might make the trip in to get track time for the Nace race in September.
M1,29,66,33 AND MAYBE EVEN 28 FROM THE 360 MIGHT RUN AND Heimbach and Buckwalter should be there.
Selinsgrove should switch with Path Valley for the Finalle when its after the 4th its the worst night of the whole week (Back To Work Monday)

You might want to reconsider Sharon Speedway. It may have the name of the PA town, but it is located in Hartford, Ohio and is already part of Ohio Speedweek. How about replacing with Raoring Knob or Dog Hollow? Come to think of it.....I agree with the previous reply.....too long. I doubt you would see even a few teams make the entire schedule.

Is there a user friendly website to find the results of the PA speedweek?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
