ROA PUTS BIZARRE TULARE CRASH BEHIND HIM AND READIES FOR SALUTE TO INDY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
(Cypress Park, CA, May 22, 2018) Brody Roa has quickly put last Saturday’s bizarre crash at the Thunderbowl Raceway behind him and is preparing for the historic 70th anniversary “Salute to Indy” at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, May 26th.
Things started off well for Roa in his first time in the beautiful Mike Phulps sprint car at last Saturday’s “Peter Murphy Classic” at the Thunderbowl. He came from the 7th starting spot to finish fourth in his heat race. That put him on the outside of the fifth row for the 30-lap main event.
When the green flag started the race at the Tulare County oval, Roa began a march forward and at one point had raced all the way up to fifth. He stayed in the top 10 until disaster struck on the 24th lap. Reportedly, somewhere in town, a lady hit a power pole. That knocked the power out and turned out many of the lights around the popular dirt oval. In the ensuing darkness, a car ahead of Roa suddenly checked up forcing Roa and the car behind him to take evasive action, but it was to late. The trailing car had nowhere to go and hit Roa. It bent the steering arm and dented a header pipe on the #56. The damage was too much to fix in time for the restart and Roa was saddled with a frustrating 14th place finish.
This Saturday, May 26th, Roa will continue in his quest to win the USAC/CRA championship at the “70th Anniversary Salute to Indy” at Perris Auto Speedway. Heading into the event, he is only nine-points out of first in the championship standings. In the four USAC/CRA races run thus far in 2018, Roa has finished first, second, third and fourth. The last time the series visited Perris on April 21st, he was fast qualifier, finished second in his heat and second in the 30-lap main.
Fans wishing to watch Brody in the “70th Anniversary Salute to Indy” can find the Perris Auto Speedway at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in Perris (92571). The track website is http://perrisautospeedway.com/ and the office phone number is (951) 940-0134. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and the first race will start promptly at 7:00.
