I'm a regular at Sprint Car World and am not a fan of pictures there of some of the newest cars on their circuits.  Not sure what the sheet metal is called that comes down from top of roll cage to behind the back wheels, but its losing the real look of a sprint car, something that has been going on in this country as well but not to that extreme.  Looking at some of them from the side, fully 1/4th to 1/3rd of the tail fuel tank that previously could be seen is now hiding behind this sheet metal.  IMO too modified looking, always liked the old-style sprint car from the 70s and 80s.  I realize some of that sheet metal protects the driver's upper body, but these new ones that I've been seeing just hide too much of the car's rear end.

Sort of funny.  The WOO took all the extra sheet metal of the cars in 1970 and 1980,s.  TO  save weight I guess. The USAC and CRA cars had alot more sheet metal than WOO.  I have talked about this last summer.  Car builders have added sheet metal in last couple years, some as option and some standard.  I noticed one company had a option of full metal front to rear on bottom of car.  I guess this to be ok on paved tracks.

i actually started to add lower aluminum .040 sheeting, to protect my engine component. , on the right side of the car, you would be amazed how a $30 piece of aluminum vs a $600 oilpan,tank,plugs.lines, it will take a rock or hard mud better, and if its banged up too bad, just toss it.. agreed, i dont like the look of too much tin on a car, but in some spots it serves its function on a winged dirt car.

Look at any of the KKR cars right side as I think that would be the point here.

If this picture were taken straight on from the left side, you could see a loss of 3 or 4 inches of the tail tank.  The Milwaukee Electric Tools car,d river Jamie McFadden.

Guessing you don't like the full left side arm guard then...ala KKR cars

Wasn’t the large sail panels a big thing here in the US about 10~ years ago and sanctioning bodies put a stop to it?

The picture of McFadden looks to be the same as a standard big max from here. We bought one of them new in 2005, that car is nothing new. Swindell had a channelock car that had huge sail panels, as I believe Lasoski did at one point too. Cars that look like McFaddens in that pic are very common in the US actually, and you can tell there is no added fiberglass behind the frame at the back, as you can see the frame in the picture. It looks like a big max to me, same style car Kraig Kinser runs, or same as this link from Bryan Dobesh from a few years back.
