Minneapolis or Des Moines about 3 hour drive. Sioux falls about an hour. Motels are limited and probably booked in Jackson. Lakefield, Worthington, Fairmont and Spirit Lake iowa are all easy drives.

There are still rooms 30 miles to the east in Fairmont, MN. There is a Holiday Inn, Super 8, Quality Inn and Hampton Inn right off the Interstate.

There's a new Comfort Suites that was built right off the interstate in Worthington that's very nice, otherwise like Doug said, Fairmont is to the East 30 miles! Sioux Falls is the closest "big" airport to Jackson.

I guess it might depend on what you're flying? Jackson looks to have a municipal arport with about a 3600' runway about a mile north of the track. Fairmont, a half hour east looks to have about the same. Worthington, a half hour west has about a mile long runway. If you're in a 747, head for Sioux Falls, about 1-1/2 hours west. Joe Foss field there has a 1.75 and a 1.5 mile runway. Sioux Falls is also big enough (180,000 people) to have rental cars and a zillion motel rooms.
