Funny how Austin Dillion can push and crash out Almirola in turn 3 last lap yet not one word out of broadcasters on Fox.  Goes to show you how much the Earnhardt name still holds a vice grip on Nascar. God forbid anyone say anything derogatory about RCR or Childress himself we all know thats hallow ground and his little grandkid couldnt do anything jacked up.   I know this is a fenderless forum but this really pisses me off and seems like everyone is quiet and ok with Dillions "BS" and nothing said about it. No more Nascar for me, period!  By the way that was a perfect example of Dale Earnhardt driving and tactics passed down from RCR.  Absolute chicken pleep move.

Jog on Dude. Amirola stated he was trying to block. That is what will sometimes happen when that is all you can do as the leader. When you block, you get wrecked at a restrictor plate race. Happened earlier when Stenhouse was blocking with 147 to  go.

If all the people who watch Nascar are going to come on a sprint car message board to declare, "I'm done with Nascar," please stop. None of us really give a damn about your disapointment or your future viewing intentions.

The Daytona event has just become a sad experience. Can't even call the on track activities racing.

All of this matters very little.   If Dillon had been the leader and Almirola or someone else had been behind him I'm sure Dillon would've been punted too.   It's the nature of that type of racing, and on the white flag lap noone is going to back off or cut anyone any slack.   I don't care for Dillon myself and don't think he's a major talent.     He may prove me wrong, but I don't think he's a championship contender and certainly not in Larson's league.

Winning a plate race is like winning the lottery no skill needed.

Take the F&^$(*)g mirrors out of the car & you would not have blocking & if the spotters would tell them that would be a 1 lap penalty. You are racing, you do not need to kmnow what is going on behind you.

Well now that Im a cry baby, and Nascar lover and everything else I guess the hope of days of clean good racing are only a thought. And as for this message board I guess its invite only and only wing sprint car chatter.  I was just trying to see if I saw something that didnt really happen but guess cetain items and only certain people are allowed for comment here.  Damn, race fans can be really rude and mean.  NWFAN I enjoy your posts and thoughts and seem well thought out.  Some posts just get personal and mean. Sorry my post was just really asking if I was wrong about Dillion crashing him out.  I guess its ok now to just junk cars and people.

It was bound to happen with that god awful aero package. Encourages blocking which leads to half the field as DNFs. Not like the racing was overally exciting either.

So i'm guessing reading comprehension or following message board threads is difficult for you.

I did not see anyone in this message string call you a cry baby, a Nascar lover or anything else. Do you have some inferior feelings about this? Nobody ever said that the finish was clean racing from either side, Dillon or Amirola. Not a soul on here said to stick to Sprintcars.

What you did not do is ask if you were wrong in your opinion of how Dillon handled the finish of the race. You came in and unequivocally bashed Dillon, RCR and the announcers. Again this was based on your opinion and nothing more. I offered a counter opinion, and others offered thier opinions.

I didnt see anyone get personal with you, I only stated that we didnt care that you are not going to watch NASCAR anymore based on the result of one finish.

As for NWFAN's post; I find it amazing the people who want to bash racers with families that support thier dreams. Without those supportive familes and thier $$$, we wouldnt have many racers and/or races to attend as the car counts would dwindle. To bash a kid who has won in everything he has ever raced and gradually worked his way up because his family has the means to give him the best equipment.

If you had a grandchild who wanted to race, and had the means to provide that, wouldnt you?

Two excellent posts, he certainly did not have a question in the first post and just came out bashing Dillon, Earnhardt's, RCR and Nascar then in his second one did not like it when you called him out on it.

How do you think Austin would have handled it if Almirola would  taken him out.Plate racing is an eqaulizer but when over 1/2 the field wrecks basically from blocking that questions the reasoning.I think there were about 12 cars still with possibility to win with 2 laps left. Bubba Wallaces effort was more impressing under the pressure.I think if Danica hadnt wrecked she would have had a chance.Things have changed since the first telecast of the 500 with Cale and Allison bros fighting as Petty sailed by to win.Bring back some emotion instead of saying the right thing while holding a Coke .

What is it that makes it "blocking" and therefore, bad. ?     In most forms of racing, if you are faster than the car in front of you, it is your responsibility to pass that car without making (too much....) contact with them.    Why is it that in NASCAR, on those big tracks with lots of space,  it is considered blocking and it is OK to push them out of the way ?

I watched most of The Chase finishes last year and (prior to Homestead) most of the winners took the lead by bulldozing the guy who was in front of them.   Anybody leading the race with 5 to go was a sitting duck..

Shouldn't the guy in the lead have the right-of-way ?  I don't get it.

I'm disappointed to see there is so many replies on this already on a SPRINT CAR forum. Nascar has been dead to me for the past 3+ seasons. It is painful to watch. Spring rubber on the track, LET'S THROW A CAUTION FOR THAT! You can't tell me the old dirt guys would still be in NASCAR if it wasn't for the money.

Good thing sprint car racing still has a few older racers that tell it like it is.Wasnt long ago they showed a Jack Hewitt interview that was great. The only reason it is on this forum as real racing hasnt really started but wrecking people is not racing. The Dick Trickle,Jimmy Spencer types are not articulate enough in speaking to have gotten a ride in what has became a gentlemans sport. The cars are basically the same and I would guess have no parts from a Ford Chevy or Toyota unless its an emblem similar to sprint cars.Jimmy Gibson is twice the announcer D.W. is

Mr. Gibson is indeed a great announcer, but I'm OK with DW.   At least he's not Kyle Petty, who I wish would go away.    And yes, once sprint car season is in full swing we probably won't be talking about NASCAR, but if it's the only racing on I'll watch it.

For one, I'm not sure there were many sprint car races this past weekend so not alot to talk about. Second, its the Daytona 500, I'd rather watch that over basketball and the olympics.

But I do agree, the've made the racing on superspeedways terrible to watch. I remember being excited for Daytona and Talladega. Now I'd rather watch them at Watkens Glen... Sad

Also, lets not hate on Nascar too much. The money does trickle down to sprint car teams whether we like it or not.

Seems like a lot of energy going into something the majority claim to despise and most have sworn off.  Refer to my reply in an earlier thread about not liking operas.  Solution, I don't attend them, they're off my radar and I don't post about it on Sprint Car boards.  I Live in Minnesota so watching Daytona is as much about longing for spring and seeing green grass and people not wearing parkas.  I can get that from golf but it ain't the same.  wink
