to employ the same policy that Knoxville has for the nationals.  No Stadium Seats

Disclaimer:  when we got to a regular Saturday night sprint show, we take in our stadium seats and very much enjoy them.  BUT we look for a place in the bleachers where there are a few open rows and we are not affecting anyone elses space or enjoyment of the evening.

Last Saturday at the rained out WoO Pevely show, it was terrible.  I asked the guy in front of me, politiely, to please move his seat up which he did and it wasn't that bad.  But a row down from me, there was a dude with a stadium seat and he had to be at least 6-8 inches laid back into the guys space behind.  The other guy had to literally straddle the stadium seat in order to sit there.

So tracks, please have the same rule Knoxville does for major events - BUT you also have to enforce it.

And fans, please have some consideration for those around you.

Stadium seats ARE NOT allowed at any event at Knoxville, who are you sneaking them past?   there is a pile of them every week at the entrance gate.

There's people who bring these into the chili bowl of all places and dont give a dam how uncomfortable it make the persons behind them.

I personaly can't stand them either and it bugs the heck out of me to see this go on.

Track prep at knoxville is almost sureal.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

It usually depends on the person using them.  I've seen it at the Grove a few times.  These are two real life examples.

Gallant brings in a small seat so that the back of it essentially comes flush with the back of the bleacher, and as soon as he sits down he asks the person behind him "Do you have enough room?"

The person responds, "Yeah."

Gallant replies, "Ok. Let me know if you don't I can try and adjust."

There are no issues during the night.

Goofus brings in a huge seat so that the back hangs a good 6-8 inches off the back of the bleacher.  As soon as he sits down the person behind him says, "The sign says, 'No oversized stadium seats.'"

Goofus replies, "I have back problems. I need this chair."

Person says, "I have no leg room and people can't get through the aisle."

Goofus says, "Not my problem" and folds his arms defiantly.

Security is called and a scene is made for a time..... don't be like Goofus.

You can usually tell what the person is going to be like by the size of the seat.  A smaller seat usually equals a person who is considerate and cares about others.  A large seat usually equals somebody who thinks that the world revolves around them, and judging by their size I'm surprised it doesn't.

I have back and hip problems, and I am tall.  I have NEVER even thought of using one of those things for the mere fact I know it would PISS someone else off, just like I get royally pissed when someone is in front of me with one.  The race track is no place for ANY stadium seat, PERIOD

I would also like to add, for about the 14th time in 15 Nationals, no one was in my seats when I showed up to sit down!!!!   Yay!!!!!  (the other time, someone misread their tickets I believe)

Why at every other venue I attend does everyone have an issue with this?   Every time I have gone to Beaver Dam, I have to ask someone to leave our seats.  And they look at us like we're nuts!  (they might be on to something)

At WOO race in Rockford last year, not one of our group's 10 or 12 seats were open---someone in all of them.  After much back and forth, finally one of them said in disgust "let's just move back to our actual seats".  ????

At Angell Park, after being told we could enter the gates when they opened and put blankets down on our seats, we come in at race time and someone moved one of our blankets and was sitting there in a stadium seat.  When asked, he said he didn't move the blanket.  Guy next to us says to us "I sat here and watched him move the blanket, re strap it and put his seat down.

There should be an usher at every aisle at these events.  Show the usher your ticket and they can point you to your seats.  Even though it would be impossible for them to watch everyone, it would give the impression that someone is watching and it does matter where you sit.

I'd like to thank all those who attend Knoxville for adhering to the section and seat numbers on your tickets!!!

I always use a seat cushion at the races. The one I had was square and it did overhang the seat a couple inches, but I always tried to make it overhang to the front so it did not bother anyone behind me.

This year I got a great seat cushion at Menards when I was in Iowa (sku: 1758548).  Best $10 I have ever spent.   I used it all 4 nights at the Nationals and I really liked it.

It is rectangular so it does not overhang to bother anyone and the width is not too wide either and it should be perfect for the very confined seating at the Chili Bowl.

sometimes you have to lay out cash to overcome ignorance on the part of the track and the idiots who might attend.

we buy a buffer row of reserved seats for a myriad of reasons...fences make for good neighbors...I have over and under reserved seating at two tracks and enjoy the opportunity to support the track and keep fuckheads another 3 feet away from me = money well spent.

I buy an extra seat every Saturday night of the Nationals for that reason.  Has helped a ton.

Now maybe we can get to the issue of people standing up during the races. I know it's nationals and everyone is excited but damn I hate that! Not everybody can stand up, and if everybody stands up, what the hell is the difference in your line of site?? Also, what about the vertically challenged? They get screwed when everybody stands. DOWN IN FRONT!!

Down in front. LOL. I used to go to Richmond 2x a year. Nascrap fans think you should stand. My last year at Richmond  a lady decided that when she sat down everyone in front of her should to. Well after cussing the people she decided to just start taping and pulling there arms. Party over. Big Bertha turns around and hits this chick, she was still a sleep after the checkered flag. So, yes, both parties can be total a**es.

We had two guys at the Front Row Challenge use the oversized stadium seats and as packed as that place was it was miserable for us and everyone around us. And as mentioned above when they were asked to remove them they acted like we were the jerks. Our only complaint for seating at Knoxville was the Cappy classic night. We made sure to arrive early and bought general admission seats and made sure we were in the right areas for that and a few of the Knoxville regular fans chewed us out for sitting In the seats they sit in for regular shows.

You were off to a good start, but lost all credibility with your sad story about someone moving your blanket.   While I dislike over sized stadium seats, I absoultely hate the blanket people.   To me, they are much more inconsiderate.

Not inconsiderate.  Go to the track early, ask for permission from the gate, get the okay, save your seat.  Not a big development in General Admission shows.

If you are a blanket person, it is not a big development because you are the one in the wrong, and you don't know it.   How many times have the blanket people reserved 6 seats but used 3?   How many times have the blanket people miss half the show but expect us to save thier seat for the feature?

The worst case was when I went to a big show that had both front and back straight seating.   The back straight was next to the pits.   A blanket creature reserved 8 seats.  3 people came to watch thier drivers heat race and then left, and the same 3 people came to watch the main event.  When thier driver broke early in the main event, they got up during the race removed the blanket and left.  Meanwhile, people were standing for the entire night because of the wasted seats taking by the blanket people.

This is why i don't go to any race to spectate anymore, I only go in the pits when I'm working on a car.  Fans are crybabies.  I can't believe there is a thread on here about what people sit on?  I stand all 9 hours I'm at the track, I've never complained about it.

That does sound inconsiderate---I agree.  I do not do that.  The last time I put one down for my son and I, I put it down on two seats.  We walked up into the stands before hot laps started and didn't leave until the final feature was complete.

The problem with general admission seating when you take a young child, you can get there an hour before the race and choose your seat.  But, If you leave your seat to get something to drink and eat or go to the restroom, you can lose your seat.  It has now become a habit so I do not have to come back and confront someone who is in a seat that has nothing to show it was previously claimed.  I put the work in to get to the show early, I follow the rules of the track and I would NEVER reserve more spots than I require.  Never.  You aren't judging me for putting the blanket down.  Your judging me by assuming I am inconsiderate and would take up more space than I need and not watch the race.  I generally don't miss a turned lap on the track unless using the restroom or getting concessions.

I have gone as far as to go into the track early and put a blanket on RESERVED seats----since there is always a group of people who can't read their tickets correctly.

If the track does not allow anyone to reserve seats in that fashion, then I am in the wrong.  Most do, so I get there early to reserve a seat.  Next time would you rather I sit there for 2 hours waiting for the show to start?  How does that change where you are going to sit?  It doesn't.
