Got Dust? Eldora Four Crowns
Blog Submitted by racegypsy on 09/23/2007 at 1:35 PM Report Blog

If you wore that T-Shirt to Eldora on Saturday 9/22/07 for the USAC portion of the Four Crowns, the answer was an emphatic yes! Like a reunion of the extended Joad Family we sat though a Dust Bowl of biblical proportions. After Tony made a few laps with the Twinkletoes 3000 Plus, Type D attachment to his tractor, the purpose of which is to apparently separate clay particles at the molecular level, our fate was sealed. The midget heat races were spectacular and showed what dirt track racing can be at its best, but add four cylinders and let the dust fly.

I could hear the sprint cars coming through three and four so I knew they were there but I could not see them until they emerged from four. London fog could not have been thicker. Entering the parking lot after the race was like a surreal Currier and Ives pastoral snow fall scene but with a discernable reddish hue.

Don't get me wrong, I love Eldora and wish nothing but the best for them but this has been a season of first time I ever saw that! Hope they get it right soon.
