OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 11) — The Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce sponsored the night of exciting racing action Wednesday with the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series in action at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. In the MUSCO Lighting USRA Modifieds, Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon scored his second straight win, taking the lead from Oskaloosa's Ron Ver Beek on lap 5 and leading the remaining 10 laps for the win. Ver Beek took the second spot, followed by Scott Dickey of Packwood in third and Washington's Brandon Banks fourth. In the USRA B-Mods, Brett Moffitt of Grimes took the lead from Andrew Schroeder of Keswick on the third lap and led the final seven laps for the win. Schroeder took second, followed by Oskaloosa drivers Mike Wanders and Ronnie Pumphrey. In the USRA Stock Car feature, Nathan Wood of Keswick and Bert McDaniel of Eldon thrilled the crowd with two-by-two action for all 15 laps. The two drivers swapping the lead six different times with Wood taking the narrow win. McDaniel took a close second with Zack VanderBeek in third and Bobby Greene of Eddyville in fourth. The final race of the night was the USRA Hobby Stock feature with Wade Francis of Eddyville holding off several challenges for his second win of 2007. Bill Gibson of Knoxville finished second, followed by Danny Thrasher of Agency in third and Sigourney's Rick Landgrebe working his way from the 17th starting spot to finish fourth. Next week at the Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster will be Fan Appreciation Night presented by KBOE 104.9FM and the Southern Iowa Fairboard with five classes on tap and all seats just $5! In addition to the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series, the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints have been added to the card.
