Haudenschild Wins Brad Doty Classic
Results Submitted by BigDog on 07/12/2007 at 7:16 AM Send To Friend | Report Results

Lima, OH-July 11, 2007--By: Tony Veneziano, World of
Outlaws PR Director

Jac Haudenschild vividly remembers competing against Brad
Doty in World of Outlaws competition in the early and
mid-1980's. The pair of Ohio natives have long been
friends off the track and Haudenschild always enjoys racing
in the annual event that bears the name of the 1982 World of
Outlaws Rookie of the Year.

On Wednesday night, Haudenschild was able to honor the
National Sprint Car Hall of Fame member, by first leading
the 26 starters in the A-Feature in the missing man
formation during the Four-Wide Salute to the Fans to salute
Doty, and then he earned a $10,000 payday for winning the
19th Annual Fram Autolite Brad Doty Classic Presented by
National Interstate Insurance at Limaland Motorsports Park..

Haudenschild powered to the lead on the opening lap exiting
the second turn and went on to lead all 40 circuits as he
earned his second World of Outlaws A-Feature win of the
season over Steve Kinser and Jason Meyers. The largest crowds
in the history of the 72 year old track witnessed
Haudenschild's win and were on their feet for the last 10
laps of the event.

"This is a special win," said Haudenschild, driver of
the Wright One Construction Maxim. "Brad (Doty) raced
tough back when he ran with the Outlaws. He was always a
good competitor and we had a lot of good times on the road
together."

Haudenschild began the night by turning the fastest lap in
time trials, with 42 total cars clocking in. He followed
that up with a win in the first heat and finished second in
the Crane Cams Dash to earn the outside front row starting
spot in the 40-lap event. His runner-up finish in the Crane
Cams Dash, was the only thing that kept him from becoming
the second driver this season to sweep an event.

"The car was running good tonight," said the winner.
"The crew did a great job getting everything ready. We
have been pretty fast the last few races. Hopefully we can
keep this pace up and keep the car up front."

Haudenschild ran the top side of the track for most of the
race, which is a trademark of the veteran driver. On several
occasions in traffic, Kinser closed the gap and was just
inches behind Haudenschild, looking for any opening to get
by. This constant pressure had Haudenschild driving as hard
as he could, as he weaved his through heavy traffic for the
majority of the last 20 laps of the race, and this kept the
crowd on their feet.

"We rubbed the wall a couple of time on the straightaway,
but the car was handling so good that it didn't really
affect me much," smiled Haudenschild.

With the yellow flag flying on the 12th lap after Terry
McCarl got upside down negotiating lapped traffic as he was
closing in on the second position, Haudenschild held off a
couple of attempts by Kinser on the ensuing restart to take
the lead on the low side of the track.

"I like the traffic," Haudenschild noted. "I wish the
lapped car would be in there on the restarts. Having traffic
worked out well for us tonight."

Kinser lined up fifth for the A-Feature and quickly moved in
to the fourth spot just three laps into the event. He took
third from McCarl just before the latter got upside down.
Once he was in third. Kinser set his sights on pole sitter
Craig Dollansky who was running second at that point of the
race. He got around Dollansky to earn a runner-up finish.

"It wasn't too bad of a night," said Kinser, driver of
the Q Oil Maxim. "I may have been too patient. I got
pretty loose getting in the corners and a little loose
getting off. We have been so tight here lately that we have
been trying some things to free the car up. We may have gone
a little bit too much, but we haven't quite figured out
what we want to do yet."

While he has won seven A-Feature events this season, Kinser
his team have been working on some different combinations
lately, as they look for more wins. In his first trip to
Limaland since a win in 1979, Kinser was quick to get up to
speed, finishing second in the first heat and fifth in the
Crane Cams Dash.

"We still have a little stumble in the motor," he
explained. "If we get that out, we will be right there."

After having some trouble in the third heat that cost him a
spot in the Crane Cams Dash, Jason Meyers lined up 13th for
the 40-lap A-Feature. He steadily worked his way to the
front with only the aid of an early red flag and then one
caution prior to the halfway point of the race. With 27
consecutive green flag laps to finish the race, Meyers
charged around car-after-car to earn a third-place finish.

"It was a great run," said Meyers, driver of the
Primerica Financial Maxim. "The entire team did a great
job in giving me a beautiful race car. It was my first time
at this race track and it's a great race track. It was an
exciting run to come from as back as we did. I wish it would
have been 50 laps."

Meyers had never seen Limaland Motorsports Park prior to
Wednesday afternoon, but that did not slow him down. With
the number of tracks the series visits each season, he is
adept at quickly getting up to speed at new tracks.

"Sometimes I think it's better to go a place you have
never been, because they you don't have any preconceived
ideas about it," he said. "You just come out and do what
the car needs. We were good right out of the box and that is
a credit to my crew."

With 26 cars competing for a $10,000 top prize on a ¼-mile
most of the drivers including Meyers had their team set the
car up to roll through traffic.

"You knew here that you would be in traffic right away,
and that is what makes good racing," he added. "It was
an exciting race. The track crew did a great job and I look
forward to coming back."

Craig Dollansky finished fourth in the Karavan Trailers
Maxim after battling for the lead early in event and
consistently running in the Top-Five all evening. He won the
Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position.

Brooke Tatnell finished fifth aboard the Volcano Joe's
Coffee Schnee. The native of San Souci, NSW, Australia began
the night by turning in the fifth fastest lap in time trials
and after a solid heat race finish, earned a spot in the
dash.

Donny Schatz, the current World of Outlaws championship
point leader finished sixth in the ParkerStore J&J, with Rob
Chaney seventh in the Berlin Bakery JEI. Joey Saldana was
eighth in the Open Joist Mopar-powered JEI, with Paul
McMahan ninth in the Bass Pro Shops Eagle and Danny Lasoski
10th in the Roth Motorsports JEI.

NASCAR Nextel Cup star Kasey Kahne, who own Joey Saldana's
car, drove as a teammate to Saldana on Wednesday night and
finished a respectable 11th after beginning the night with a
fourth-place effort in time trails, in a rare start in a
410-sprint car.

The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, July 13
with the Knight Before the Kings Royal, with the 24th Annual
Kings Royal by Crown Royal on Saturday, July 14, with
$50,000 awaiting the winner.
