QUICK RESULTS: Inaugural ‘Firecracker 100’ At Lernerville Speedway Becomes Latest Big-Money Victory For Bloomquist

SARVER, PA – June 30, 2007 – Scott Bloomquist added another big-money victory to his bulging resume, capturing Saturday night’s inaugural ‘Firecracker 100’ at Lernerville Speedway.

The 43-year-old superstar from Mooresburg, Tenn., wrestled the lead from Steve Shaver of Vienna, W.Va., on lap nine and never looked back in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event. He pocketed $30,463 (including lap money) for his first-ever triumph at the four-tenths-mile oval.

Bloomquist, who started from the pole position, fought off several challenges from Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., and a late-race bid by Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga., to register his second WoO LMS win of 2007 and the 16th of his career.

Madden, who set fast time on Friday night, settled for second place in a Bloomquist Chassis car. He also was runner-up to Bloomquist in the WoO LMS-sanctioned Circle K Colossal 100 on April 21 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., ran in the lead pack for the entire distance and finished a close third. Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., who was also behind the wheel of a Bloomquist car, charged forward from the 20th starting spot to finish fourth, and Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., placed fifth.

Clanton used the extreme outside of the track to vault past Pearson and Madden for second on lap 88 and looked ready to run the lane by Bloomquist moments later. But when Bloomquist made a fortuitous switch to the top groove through turns three and four on lap 89, Clanton lost his momentum and began a tumble backward that left him sixth at the finish.

Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., moved into the WoO LMS points lead thanks to a seventh-place finish and the misfortune of Senoia, Ga.’s Clint Smith, who retired from the race with apparent distributor problems on lap 11 and finished 28th.

Francis, who entered the ‘Firecracker 100’ tied with Smith for the WoO LMS points lead, will carry a slim two-point edge over Frank into Tuesday night’s (July 3) tour stop at Missouri’s Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

Josh McGuire of Ashland, Ky., pocketed $3,000 for winning the Uncle Sam 30, which featured the drivers who finished 4-15 in the twin B-Mains.
