HARTFORD, Ohio (July 31, 2010) – In Saturday race action at Sharon Speedway, Joe Martin drove to a definitive FASTRAK Late Model victory, Del Rougeux won his second feature win in Governor Insurance Big Block Modifieds this season, Scott Stiffler recorded a solid E-Mod victory, Jason Scoville won in Limited Sprints and Dillen Kineston was victorious in Hobby Stocks.

The FASTRAK Late Models returned to Sharon Speedway Saturday for a 20-lap A-Main event after a touring series event earlier in the week. Pole sitter Bill Cunningham (59) was fast, but Joe Martin was getting better traction on the inside to take the lead on lap three.

Martin set up a sizable margin over the field locked up his victory early in the race. Max Blair didn't take long to move up from starting eighth, running an outside line, to move into second. Cunningham fell to fourth Kyle Zimmerman ran fifth.

After two early single-car cautions, action was smooth and safe throughout the feature, with Martin recording his first win at Sharon Speedway, followed by Blair, Michael Blose in third, Cunningham in fourth and Zimmerman in fifth.

“Any victory lane is a good place to be, but a place like this is especially is special,” Martin said in a post race interview.

FASTRAK heat winners were Bill Cunningham (59) and Martin.

The Governor Insurance Big Block Modifieds went from green-to-checkered without a caution in the 20 lap feature. They started their feature by running three-wide down the frontstretch. Del Rougeux pulled a slide job through turn four to pick up first place over Brad Rapp. Tommy Mattocks, in third, paced Kevin Bolland and Tommy Kristyak. Lap 6, had Bolland and Rapp went wheel-to-wheel for second.

Rougeux was hot on the 3/8-mile dirt oval, setting up a huge lead over Bolland in second, Rapp in third and Mattocks in fourth. Rex “Cooter” King Jr. was running in fifth, but got around Mattocks for fourth on the 11the lap. The leaders held their positions to come across the line with Rougeux in first, Bolland second, King Sr. in third, Rapp fourth and Mattocks fifth.

King Sr. leads the Modifieds in points, followed closely by Rougeux, Rapp and Bolland.

The Governor Insurance Big Block Modifieds heat winners were Dean Pearson and Rex “Cooter” King Jr.

The E-Mod A-Main event saw Scott Stiffler (Farmdale, Ohio) take the lead by running an outside line. Jeff Johnson stayed close in second and set up some distance from Jeff Hassay, Scott Jones and Joe Gabrielson, who were battling for third.

On a restart following a first-lap caution, the E-Mod drivers went three-wide through turns one and two. Stiffler stayed in the lead with Johnson in second, until Johnson spun on lap 3. Gabrielson moved into second with Russ Dunn in third and Alan Dellinger in fourth, close behind. In fifth, Scott Jones was holding off Jeff Hassay. On lap six, Gabrielson got high in turn four, giving Dunn an opportunity to slide under and take second.

On the sixth lap, Dellinger and Gabrielson left the track and one lap later, Bradley Blackshear, Arlan Coy and JR Mechling collected in turn four, setting up a single file restart that saw Stiffler hold onto his lead, but Dunn close the gap between. Hassay moved into third, with pressure from Bob Diver and Scott Jones.

Lap 11 saw Stiffler on the outside, Dunn on the inside, grinding all the way around the track. Coming across the finish line, Stiffler held on for the lead, Dunn in second, Diver in third, Hassay in fourth and Jones in fifth.

Johnson continues to lead the E-Mods in points, followed by Gabrielson, Dellinger and Stiffler.

The E-Mod heat winners were Joe Gabrielson, Alan Dellinger and Steven Haefke.

Adam Kekich (Hermitage, Pa.) took the lead initially in the Limited Sprint feature, as Justin Whitesell (Austintown, Ohio) moved into second. AJ Albrecht (Warren, Ohio) took second on the second lap, but one lap later Jason Scoville earned the position. They ran side-by-side through lap five with division points leader Guy Griffin in fourth. With five laps to go, Scoville was able to pass Kekich for first as Kekich pulled into the infield. Scoville took first place, moving Albrecht into second, Griffin into third, Doug Kekich in fourth and Whitesell ultimately finished fifth.

“I don't know what happened to Adam there. I feel bad, for sure,” Scoville said. “...I hate to see it happen like that. I would've like to have seen Adam win, he's doing good.”

The Limited Sprint heat winner was Adam Kekich.

Limited Sprint driver Chad Matthews had better luck at the track before the race. He married longtime girlfriend Jennifer, in a ceremony at Sharon Speedway earlier in the day.

The Hobby Stock A-Main event started with the division's rough-and-tumble style, as several cars got into each other coming off the starting line. Dillen Kineston (New Castle, Pa.) started as the race leader and opened up his advantage over Shannon Heberling (Youngstown, Ohio) and the rest of the field, as Dan McEwen ran in third place on the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Sharon Speedway. Bill Fuchs was hard-charging from starting ninth to running fifth. He stayed to the inside of Michael Scharba and Ken Koby, who batted out a grudge from Friday Night Thunder.

Kineston had a large lead over Heberling, but Scharba moved into third and starting closing the gap before a caution came out on lap 7. On the restart, Fuchs and Scharba stayed to the inside. As the white flag came out, Kineston stayed out front in the black Neon, Scharba moved into second and Fuchs into third, sending Heberling into fourth as McEwen and Koby were trading paint for fifth – McEwen beat Koby to the line by a half-car length.

Scharba leads in Saturday night Hobby Stock points, followed by Fuchs.

Hobby Stock heat winners were Koby and Scharba.
