Nosbisch Visits Victory Lane In Late Model Feature

Around 100 cars signed in to East Bay Race Way park ready to thunder around the Clay By The Bay on a beautiful Saturday night in September.  Anticipation was high for another great night of racing as the fans packed the stands once again.

The Gagel’s Open Wheeled Modifieds were the first class to hit the track for their 15-lap feature event.  Austin Sanders held off the hard charging Jeff Mathews to take the win, it was his 2nd of the season. Mathews finished 2nd.  Greg Leonard ran up front all night and came home in the 3rd spot.  Dale Kelley finished 4th.  John Bradley rounded out the top-5. Mathews and Bradley won the heat races.

David Roberts was the car to beat in the Motorstats.com Street Stocks.  He started the race in the 4th position and quickly made his way to the lead.  Once there he was able to hold off a late charge from Danny Hill and visit victory lane for the second time this season.  Buck Skinner started in the 9th position and finished 3rd.  Mathew Grissom made a challenge for the lead early  and wound up finishing 4th.  Danny Paris, Jr. finished 5th.

Pat Dent and Roberts were victorious in the heat races.

The Outlaw 4’s put on another good show for the fans as Mavrick Varnadore went to victory lane. It was his 2nd win of the year.  Sean Bass making only his second start on dirt moved his way through the field after starting in the 13th spot coming home with a 2nd place finish.  Shane Burrows also started near the back of the field and was able to finish in 3rd spot.  Matt Haynes and pole sitter Dan Chambers rounded out the top-5.  Steven Hohlbaugh and Burrows won the heat races.

The Late Model feature was cut short at 11 laps due to the 30-minute time limit and numerous cautions that plagued the event.  Keith Nosbisch started mid pack in the feature event which was scheduled for 25 laps.  Nosbisch was able to hold off the challenges Josh Peacock and Steve Miller on numerous restarts and take the victory.  Peacock finished 2nd.  Miller started 3rd and finished in the same spot.  Roger Crouse started 11th and finished 4th.  KD Kelley rounded out the top-5.  Bobby Alexander, Sr., Crouse and Kelley won the heats.

In the Convire 4 Cylinder bombers Collin Kruse went to victory lane once again this season. The “Odessa Flash” George Christiansen finished 2nd.  Tommy Huffstutler had a strong run and came home 3rd.  Roberto Morfin finished 4th and Frank Miller smoking all the way came crossed the line in the 5th position.  Collin Cruse, Morfin, and Robert Kissam won the heat races.

ASA sanctioned racing resumes at East Bay Raceway Park Saturday, September 27th 2008 at 6:30pm as it is Motorcycle Mania Night with the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series $3,000 to win 50 lap event.  The Limited Sprints, Motorstats.com Street Stocks and Convire 4 Cylinder Bombers will also be in action.  The Motorcycle show starts at 5pm.
