Lonnie Wheatley, BAYTOWN, Texas (August 18, 2007) – After getting involved in an opening lap incident, Travis Rilat charged from the rear of the field to win Saturday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region feature at Houston Raceway Park.
 
Rilat raced around Tommy Bryant on the 23^rd round to post his first Gulf South win of the year and fourth overall ASCS triumph of 2007 aboard the Motor Mike-powered F&J Construction No. 29 Triple-X, denying Bryant his first career series win in the process.
 
The initial pair of attempts to start the race were waved off, the first of which sent third-starter Rilat to the tail with front row outside starter Brandon Berryman flipping along with Lane Whittington on the second start.
 
Once action went green, polesitter Kent Lewis, Jr., paced the opening ten rounds before a broken shock slowed his pace, allowing Montgomery to take command.
 
Charging through the field, Rilat took full advantage of a caution with six laps to go for Todd Evans' disabled mount, reeling in Montgomery in the final rounds to snare the win.
 
Montgomery settled for runner-up honors, with Ray Allen Kulhanek charging from 17^th to claim the show position and take over the series points lead.  Lewis crossed the stripe fourth, with Brad Stokes also recovering from an opening lap incident to round out the top five.
 
Defending series champion Gary Watson was sixth, with Chris Sweeney, Jamie Will, Jimmy Brooks and Wes Miller completing the top ten.
 
Lewis, Whittington and Rilat topped heat race action, with Evans winning the "B" Main.
