Jetmore, Kan. (05/02/08) – On May 10, 2008, the city of Jetmore will sponsor a full-day festival and evening of racing to benefit the Steve King Foundation and the Hodgeman County Community Foundation Steve King Fund. The O'Reilly/NCRA Sprint Car Series, presented by ICM/Ethanol, will be the featured division when the series comes into the Jetmore Motorplex May 10. The "City of Jetmore Steve King Memorial Sprint Car Classic" event will take place in the city square and features numerous fund raising events and activities. Many of the area's best sprint car drivers will have their cars on display, giving fans the opportunity to get autographs and photographs taken with their favorite drivers. A golf tournament between 360 and 305 racers will also be held. The day will also feature a concert at the Motorplex before and after the races. The day and race posthumously honor King, a Jetmore native and life-long resident. King racked up back-to-back NCRA 360 sprint car championships in 2002 and 2003. King's untimely death came in August 2006 due to injuries sustained in a crash at the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA. Among the activities is a special fund raiser in which the winner will get to drive an actual ICM/King Racing 360 Sprint Car after the races. A $20.00 donation will give a lucky fan a chance at the "Thrill of a Lifetime" as they pilot the race car around the track. To find out more about the NCRA sprint car series, either call their office at (316) 755-1781 or visit their web site at www.ncraracing.org. |
