7/22/10 – Once again, Bill Balog & the B Squared Motorsports 17B had 2 races scheduled this past weekend. First on the agenda was the Oshkosh Speedzone in Oshkosh, WI. With a race track that was quickly loosing traction, Bill ended up turning the 4th quickest lap in qualifying out of the 30 cars present. He would take the green flag in 5th place & he would need to bring a top 5 finish home in order to transfer straight to the feature. After falling to 6th at the start, he would get in his rhythm & by the time the checkered flag flew, he would finish in the all important 5th position. With the 5 pill drawn for feature inversion, Bill would take the green flag from the 7th position. At the drop of the green, Bill worked the bottom side of the track in 1 & 2 perfectly & by the time they were in turn 3, he was sitting in 3rd place. But as lick would have it, the yellow flag flew before a lap was complete, which meant a complete restart was in order. On the next start, he would have to work harder for the positions in front of him. Lap after lap went by & he was picking off car by car & with just about 10 laps left in the race, he would take the race lead in lapped traffic. He & the 2nd place car would battle over the last 10 laps, slicing & dicing through the lapped cars & when the checkered flag flew, Bill was the 1st to cross the line. This win is Bill’s 9th career IRA win & 2nd of the 2010 season. |
