ASCS Patriots Saturday Rain
Press Release Submitted by BigDog on 05/18/2008 at 8:27 AM Send To Friend | Report Press Release
Rains Postpone ASCS Patriots at Woodhull, Will Try Again Next Saturday Rich Vleck, WOODHULL, NY (May 17, 2008)- Cold and rainy conditions continued to plague the ASCS Patriots start to the season, as a persistent drizzle forced the postponement of the highly-anticipated show for the Patriots at Woodhull. More than a full field of sprints were on hand and had drawn for their starting spots in their respective heats at the high-banked 1/3-mile, but they will start from scratch when the event is made up, next Saturday, May 24. The decision to postpone came at 7:00 p.m., after a 90-minute shower blanketed the Southern Tier New York Destination. Woodhull Promoter Vern Wasson worked with the Patriot Officials and the Teams to settle the details, including finalizing the appropriate make-up date, which was determined to be next week. All competitors are invited to run at Woodhull Next Saturday, with the standard open draw format for ASCS being used as always. All teams will have to draw once again next week following the drivers meeting, with everyone that attends being on an equal playing field throughout the night. This change in plans has also made the Memorial Weekend a two-race weekend, as initially planned. After the inability to finalize the May 24 “TBA”, that was initially posted on the 2008 Schedule, Woodhull will now coincidentally fill that slot. Eriez Speedway, just a few hours from Woohdull, will be the Sunday Night Event, with racing beginning at 5:00 p.m. Woodhull will once again start at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening early in the afternoon.
