Bandits are invading Hanford Saturday night. The Bandit Sprint Car Series is heading to the Kings Speedway Saturday May 17th for another round of sideways sprint car action. Peter Murphy leads the bandits with a commanding point advantage heading into the 7th round for the series and 4th round for the Kings Bandit track championship. Clovis racer Murphy is 74 points ahead of "Fast" Albert Pombo of Fresno in the overall multi-track series. Although the season is still young, the Bandits cannot let the hot start of Murphy to get away from them and step up the pace. The 2nd through 5th are in a tight bunch with Bakersfield's Rusty Carlile, Hanford's own Jonathon Logan and the pride of Tulare Justyne Hamblin balance out the top bunch with a mere 17 championship points separating them.
The Kings Bandit track championship is a much tighter affair with racing sophomore Hamblin a scant two points atop Murphy with Michael Faccinto in third position, with Pombo and Logan rounding out the top 5 for the Kings Bandits heading into this week-ends action.
There is certainly a youth movement in the sprint car series headed by the Kings Speedway point leader and local Justyne Hamblin. She is chased by young and capable stars like Faccinto, Pombo, Adam Frith-Smith, Ricky Kirkbride, Hanford's Jared Little, Visalia' VanderWeerd twins Jace and Richard jr., John Niggli and Gilroy's Wes Gutierrez. The future is very bright with these young stars.
Make no mistake; the veterans of this division are not going to let these upstarts get anything easy, they are going to have to earn every position. The classy Murphy leads tremendously accomplished pack of veterans like Rusty Carlile, Logan, Davey Knott, John Iturriria, and Fresno shoe Kevin Barnes among others.
On the card with the featured Kings Bandit Sprint Cars is the National 360 Winged Sprint Cars and the National Midget Racing Association ¾ Midgets. This will certainly be one of the best open wheeled regular shows of the season. Who is going to win? What is going to happen? Come to the Kings Speedway and bring a friend, bring a neighbor and bring a friends neighbor to "the Place to Race", the Kings Speedway.
