Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Point Race Tightens After Knoxville
Concord, NC- May 4, 2008- Craig Dollansky used a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway to remain atop the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has finished sixth or better in each of the seven events contested this season. He also leads the way in the chase for the Qwik Liner Cup, which awards points to the Top-Five qualifiers in each of the first 13 events this season.
Jason Meyers finished fifth at Knoxville and cut Dollansky's lead to 12 markers with a doubleheader on tap this coming weekend. Meyers also has seven Top-10 finishes this season, with six of those being Top-Five performances, including a series-best three A-Feature wins.
Donny Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion earned his first win of the season on Saturday night and moved to within 20 points of Dollansky. The North Dakota native is third in the standings and also has seven Top-10 finishes in the first seven events of the season.
Joey Saldana used his sixth Top-10 finish to remain fourth in points, as he closes in on his first win of the 2008 campaign.
Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year picked up his fourth Top-10 finish of the season at Knoxville to remain fifth in points.
Steve Kinser, the 20-time series champion used a fourth-place run on Saturday night to move into the sixth spot.
Jac Haudenschild vaulted into the seventh spot in points after a third-place run at Knoxville.
Terry McCarl is eighth in points, with Chad Kemenah just one marker behind him.
Daryn Pittman earned his fourth Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday night and moved into the 10th spot in the standings.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Friday, May 9 at Tri-City Speedway in Illinois, followed by a visit to Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky on Saturday, May 10.
