HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY TO HOST ROUND TWO OF THE SUPER CLEAN MODIFIED SERIES THIS SATURDAY NIGHT
BY DAVE GRAYSON

The elite teams from the Super Clean Modified Series will be making the journey to beautiful Lake Havasu City-Arizona this for round two of their ten race series. The drivers of those ground shaking, thunder making, open wheel modifieds will be taking on the daunting challenge of the Havasu 95 Speedway this Saturday night, May 3d, for 75 fast paced laps around the most scenic quarter mile paved oval in the southwest. A full field of Super Clean Modifieds are expected this weekend vying for the 22 starting berths in the feature as well as the $1,000 winner's check. Drivers in this lucrative series are also guaranteed $250 just for starting the main event.

In addition to Super Clean being the title sponsor for the ten race series, the Havasu 95 event is being presented by Jim Beam who is also the television sponsor. Seven of the races will be televised later this year. Three of the races, including the one next Saturday, will be broadcast nationally on the Versus Channel. The remaining four events will be broadcast on Channel 45 a super station that services viewers in Arizona, California and Nevada.

The 2008 Super Clean Modified Series officially kicked off on April 12th at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe-California and was the scene of an outstanding performance by race winner Jimmy Dickerson who led 74 laps of the race while fending off constant pressure from Chris Gerchman. Because it was the first race of the series the points standings reflect the results of that one race. That means there are only ten points separating the top six drivers. Included in that group, in addition to Dickerson and Gerchman, is veteran modified driver Mike Salm. Super Late Model sensation turned Modified rookie sensation Andrew Phipps is fourth in the standings and is closely followed by series veterans Billy Johanneck and Tim Morse.

While these top six drivers are expected to show up in Lake Havasu City with their "A" game, there are plenty of other drivers who will want to start the process of collecting their fair share of the purse and points money which has a total value over $105,000. Those drivers include Danny Gay, who won the series last year and Jason Patison who finished second in the final standings in 2007. Both drivers have already proven that they can win a modified race on any given Saturday night.

Greg Scheidecker, the series' Technical Director as well as Promoter of the Lucas OIl I 10 Speedway, is thrilled with the way the Super Clean Modified Series has already taken shape. "I'm very pleased with the level of competition that we already have. These guys are going to run bumper to bumper. They going to run on the inside and the outside grooves and they're going to be using everything that they have," he said. Sharing that enthusiasm is the series' Race Director Bill Rozhon, who is also the co-promoter of the Havasu 95 Speedway. Rozhon said "the series is already looking really good and I wouldn't be surprised if we have as many as 30 entries next Saturday night."

The other lucrative aspect of this series is its exceptional marketing program. In addition to Super Clean as the title sponsor, the series is also greatly enhanced by a marketing concept known as "Team Lucas" which includes Lucas Oil, Dixie Chopper, General Tire, Jim Beam, Torco Racing Fuel, R&L Carriers, Fatheadz Sun Glasses, E3 Spark Plugs, K&N Performance Filters, Hoosier Tire West, Blue Water Resort and Casino, Budweiser, Polydome Plastic Products and Sencon Concrete LLC.
