Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Tri-State Speedway Haubstadt, IN- April 16, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes to the high-banked ¼-mile Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on Saturday, April 19 for the second short track race of the 2008 season and the first on a ¼-mile. In ten events last season on ¼-miles, six different drivers picked up wins.

Leading the way will be current series point leader Craig Dollansky who earned his second A-Feature win of the season last Friday night at Eldora Speedway. The native of Elk River, Minnesota is the only driver that has finished in the Top-Five in all six events this season. He won at Tri-State Speedway in 2006. Along with Steve Kinser, he is the only active Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver that has scored a victory at the track.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, has won each of his last two starts at the ¼-mile in his home state, leading all 80 laps of feature racing competition in the process. He held off Jac Haudenschild for the win last year.

Jason Meyers finished third at the high-banked track last season and enters this week's event second in the championship standings, after battling back from some bad luck last weekend. Despite having to change an engine after hot laps and losing two tires, he finished eighth at Eldora to earn his sixth Top-10 finish of the season. He leads the series with three A-Feature wins in 2008.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending series champion has six consecutive Top-10 finishes at Tri-State Speedway, and also has finished in the Top-10 in each of the six events this season. He has four runner-up finishes in World of Outlaws action as he chases his first win with Tony Stewart Racing with the series.

Joey Saldana led the series last season with four wins on ¼-mile tracks driving for Kasey Kahne Racing. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana has nine career Top-10 finishes at Tri-State Speedway. He enters the event fourth in championship points.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year rounds out the Top-Five in points, after a very solid fourth-place performance last weekend at Eldora Speedway.

2007 Race Recap: Steve Kinser continued to add to his remarkable track record at the ¼-mile in his home state by picking up his seventh career World of Outlaws win at Tri-State Speedway.

Kinser led from the drop of the green, as he used the high side of the track to win a drag race down the front straightaway with Danny Lasoski. By just the sixth lap of the 40-lap contest, Kinser was already in lapped traffic.

Early in the race, Paul McMahan closed in on Kinser in traffic and took a couple of looks to the low side of the track, and took the lead briefly coming entering the second turn, but he jumped the cushion and it took a few laps for him to recover. Likewise, Tim Kaeding, tried to power his way under Kinser, but the momentum from the high side of the track helped him fend off all challengers. Each time Kinser was credited as being the leader at the start-finish line, thus leading wire-to-wire.

Five cautions in the last 15 laps of the event slowed down a race that saw a blistering pace for the first 25 circuits.

Jac Haudenschild thrilled the crowd late in the race as he charged into the Top-Five and lined up second after a late caution. He used the extreme high side of the track, and was just inches off the wall as he chased down Kinser. He jumped the cushion a couple of times late in the race, as he was pushing his car<http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=249697&FS=WOO> as hard as it would go, and thus lost some momentum on the high side of the track.

Jason Meyers powered his way to a third-place finish, with Jeremy Campbell and Zach Chappell rounding out the Top-Five.
