Meyers & Schatz Among Top-Six in National Speed Sport News Power Rankings Concord, NC- March 19, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz represent the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series again this week in the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings. It is the third consecutive week that both drivers are among the Top-Six in the poll.
Meyers, a native of Clovis, California, was victorious in his home state at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville last Friday night, leading all 30 laps after winning the first heat race and the dash to earn the pole position for the A-Feature. He remained fourth this week in the Power Rankings, and it is the third consecutive week that his has been a part of the esteemed list that consists of drivers from various disciplines of motorsports.
Meyers has won four of his last seven starts aboard the GLR Investments KPC and dating back to last season, has 22 consecutive finishes of eighth or better in A-Feature events. He has two wins with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series this season, and has finished in the Top-Five in all four series events. He is just two markers out of the lead in the championship standings.
Donny Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion remained sixth in the Power Rankings this week.
The North Dakota native is third in World of Outlaws championship points, on the strength of four Top-10 finishes, including three runner-up performances, piloting the Armor All J&J for Tony Stewart Racing. He also opened the season with two wins during the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park with the All Star Circuit of Champions. He has been among the Top-10 in the Power Rankings all season.
In 2007, Schatz finished the year on top of the Power Rankings to earn the prestigious Economaki Champion of Champions Award from NSSN.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is one of just two series that has multiple drivers in the Power Rankings this week.
