Inaugural ASCS Southwest Region Event Saturday Night at USA Race Park! Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 17, 2008) – A new chapter in the American Sprint Car Series history books springs to life this Saturday night when the ASCS Southwest Region contests its inaugural event at Tucson's United Sports Arizona Race Park. Saturday's event at USA Race Park will mark the first winged Sprint Car event in Arizona for the American Sprint Car Series, as the ASCS Southwest Region opens up a full slate of 18 events for the winged warriors of Arizona. The ASCS Southwest Region is one of two new Regions for the American Sprint Car Series in 2008. The series also added the ASCS Northwest Region, based out of Washington and Oregon, for the 2008 season, thus giving the ASCS an undeniable National presence from coast-to-coast with events taking place from Florida to New York and from New York to Washington State. With winged Sprint Car racing historically strong throughout the Southwestern portion of the nation, that segment of the sport is expected to thrive under the direction of the new ASCS Southwest Region in 2008 and well into the future. Saturday's inaugural American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region event at Tucson's USA Race Park is slated to go green at 6:30 p.m. United Sports Arizona Race Park is located east of Tucson off I-10 Exit 268, then 1.6 mile south on Craycroft Road, which turns into Los Reales. In addition to events at Tucson's USA Race Park, the series will also be in action at Show Low's Thunder Speedway and Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with 14 different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
