Jason Meyers Moves Up in National Speed Sport News Power Rankings Concord, NC- March 13, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
After making his debut in the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings last week, Jason Meyers used a win in the 22nd Annual Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California to move up two spots this week in the poll, to the fourth position.
The native of Clovis, California is currently second in Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings aboard the GLR Investments KPC, on the strength of two A-Feature wins and Top-Five finishes in all four event this season.
Dating back to the end of last season, Meyers has 21 consecutive finishes of eighth or better in A-Feature events. In that span, he has six wins and 17 Top-Five finishes. He will compete this weekend at Ocean Speedway in his home state, a track that the World of Outlaws will compete at later this season.
Donny Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion remained in the Power Rankings, in the sixth position. The North Dakota native has three Top-Five finishes with the World of Outlaws this season, and has been in the Top-10 in all four events.
He is currently third in championship points, just 21 markers out of the lead. He opened the season with two wins with the All Star Circuit of Champions during the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, in his debut for Tony Stewart Racing aboard the Armor All J&J.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is one of just two series that has multiple drivers in the NSSN Power Rankings this week.
