Alltel All Star: Less than one week remains in the voting to determine the inaugural Alltel All Star. The final ballots will be tallied on Sunday, March 16, with the winner receiving $12,000. Each driver that won an A-Feature during the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida last month are eligible.

Four Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers are on the ballot after winning at the half-mile to open the 2008 season: Craig Dollansky, Danny Lasoski, Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz.

Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion earned a nomination after scoring two wins with the All Star Circuit of Champions to open the 2008 campaign, driving for Tony Stewart Racing.

Craig Dollansky, the current World of Outlaws championship point leader earned a spot in the voting by winning on the opening night of the 2008 season at Volusia Speedway Park. The native of Elk River, Minnesota finished in the Top-Five of all three World of Outlaws races at the half-mile and has four Top-Five finishes in four starts with the series this season.

Jason Meyers earned a nomination for the Alltel All Star voting by winning the second World of Outlaws event during the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals. The native of Clovis, California also finished in the Top-Five of all three series events at Volusia Speedway Park and is currently just two points behind Dollansky in the championship standings, after winning his second A-Feature event of the season on March 1. Meyers also has four Top-Five finishes in four starts to open the 2008 World of Outlaws campaign.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion wrapped up the sprint car portion of the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals with his 81st career series win to become the fifth sprint car driver to win in the six nights of competition at the half-mile in the Sunshine State.

Dave Hess, who won a UMP DIRTcar Modified event during the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals, currently leads the overall voting by just 0.2% over sprint car driver Wayne Johnson, who was victorious with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Sweet Home California: After winning the 22nd Annual Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California last weekend, Jason Meyers, who has two wins with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series this season and is second in championship points, will compete at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, California this weekend. He last competed at the track in 2003 and in his last start with the World of Outlaws at the high-banked ΒΌ-mile in 2002, he was third.

"With this break from World of Outlaws action, to us, it only made sense to keep racing and use some of this time off from the tour to do some more research and development on these new cars, as well as get some more laps in on the California tracks that we will see later this year on the Outlaw schedule," said Meyers.

The World of Outlaws will compete at Ocean Speedway on Friday, October 17. The series has contested three A-Feature events at the track dating back to 2000, with three different drivers visiting the winner's circle.

Looking to Win Down Under: Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year with the World of Outlaws, will compete in the Australian Sprintcar Championship at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on March 29. The event was interrupted and eventually postponed by rain in February. During the second qualifying night on February 6, which was partially completed, the native of St. Mary's, NSW, was sixth in time trials. He won the fourth heat race for the second group and was third in the seventh heat race for the second group. The heat races were divided into two groups, as the drivers that were scheduled to take part in heat races on the first night of the event on February 5 competed on the second night of the scheduled three-day event, before rain hit again.

Penalty issued: An incident in the pit area on March 1 during the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona resulted in penalties for one driver. Jason Sides who was disqualified from the A-Feature at Manzanita Speedway was additionally fined $500 and placed on probation until June 6, 2008, for rough driving and unnecessary contact with another car in the work area.

Up Next: The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Saturday, April 5 at I-55 Raceway in Missouri. Joey Saldana was victorious last season at the high-banked 1/3-mile, holding off two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz for the win. Saldana took the lead on the 29th lap from 2001 World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski. There have been 18 different drivers that have won an A-Feature event with the series at the track dating back to 1987, including nine drivers currently competing full-time with the World of Outlaws.
