ASCS Coastal Region 2008 Schedule is Set

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla.  (February 6, 2008) – Set to kick off the 2008 season this Saturday night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, the American Sprint Car Series Coastal Region has completed the balance of its 2008 schedule.
 
The ASCS Coastal Region's second season of competition will consist of 14 nights of racing action at nine different tracks throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida.
 
After this Saturday night's opener, action resumes on April 19 when the Coastal Region squares off with the ASCS Gulf South Region at Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, LA.  It marks the first of two Regional Showdowns versus the Gulf South Region, with the second one at Fast Trax as well on September 13.
 
In addition to this Saturday night's Showdown versus the Rebel Region, the Coastal and Rebel Regions will also square off at Southern Raceway (Milton, FL) on June 28, Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, MS) on August 9 and then again at Loxley's Deep South Speedway on September 20.
 
Other tracks hosting the ASCS Coastal Region in 2008 include Baton Rouge Raceway, Pike County Speedway (Magnolia, MS), Southern Speedway (Hattiesburg, MS), Jackson Motor Speedway (Jackson, MS) and Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, MS).
 
The August 30-31 events at Jackson Motor Speedway and Magnolia Motor Speedway will be in conjunction with the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series.
 
The ASCS Coastal Region will wrap up its second season of action with the championship finale at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS, on October 11.

May 16 Southern Speedway (Hattiesburg, MS)
May 17 Jackson Motor Speedway (Jackson, MS) - $2,000 to win
June 28 Southern Raceway (Milton, FL) - $2,000 to win vs. Rebel Region
Aug. 3 Brodix Tournament of Champions (Knoxville, IA) – No points
Aug. 8 Southern Speedway (Hattiesburg, MS)
Aug. 9 Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, MS) - $2,000 to win vs. Rebel Region
Aug. 30 Jackson Motor Speedway (Jackson, MS) – with ASCS National series
Aug. 31 Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, MS) – with ASCS National series
Sept. 13 Fast Trax Speedway (Chatham, LA) – vs. Gulf South Region
Sept. 20 Deep South Speedway (Loxley, AL) - $2,000 to win vs. Rebel Region
Oct. 11 Pike County Speedway (Magnolia, MS)
The American Sprint Car Series is the nation's most prevalent Sprint Car sanctioning body, with the series sanctioning 189 nights of racing at 90 different tracks throughout 25 different states and Canada in 2007.  A total of 866 different drivers competed in at least one ASCS event in 2007.
