Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (February 6, 2008) – The 2008 slate for the American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region is now available, as the series gears up for its third year of racing action.
The ASCS Northern Plains Region is currently slated for 16 nights of competition at ten different tracks throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.
The ASCS Northern Plains Region opens up the 2008 campaign with a two-night stand versus the ASCS Midwest Region at Nebraska Raceway's Park I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, on April 11-12.
The series later puts the wraps on the 2008 season with North Central Speedway's Mighty Axe Nationals in Brainerd, MN, on August 30-31, winding down a three-day weekend that opens up with Superior (WI) Speedway on August 29.
Along the way, the ASCS Northern Plains Regional forces will take on the O'Reilly ASCoT National troops during the Second Annual ASCS Northern Plains Speedweek. After opening up at Knoxville Raceway on June 20, the ASCS Northern Plains Region joins in on the action at Clay County Speedway (Spencer, IA) on June 21, I-90 Speedway (Hartford, SD) on June 24 and Dakota State Fair Speedway (Huron, SD) on June 28.
Several other events are being negotiated and may be added to the ASCS Northern Plains Region schedule in the coming weeks.

The American Sprint Car Series is the nation's most prevalent Sprint Car sanctioning body, with the series sanctioning 189 nights of racing at 90 different tracks throughout 25 different states and Canada in 2007. A total of 866 different drivers competed in at least one ASCS event in 2007.
