The 2008 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series opener, the 37
th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals is just six days away at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, on February 8.
In celebration of the series 30
th anniversary season this year, for each of the 10 days leading up to the event, each one of the Top-10 all-time A-Feature winners with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be highlighted. These 10 drivers have combined for 1,449 A-Feature wins with the series dating back to 1978. Of the 10 drivers, four will be competing full-time with the series in 2008, beginning with the 37
th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
Next up on the list will be 1995 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Dave Blaney, with 70 career A-Feature wins, who is tied for sixth with Donny Schatz on the all-time list.
Blaney won his first career Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Feature event in 1985 at Tri-City Speedway in Illinois. His most recent win with the series came in 1997 at Southern New Mexico Speedway.
Among the wins in his career with the series are: the 1997 Knoxville Nationals and the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California. He won at 50 tracks in 23 states. He won a career high 12 A-Feature events in 1997.
In his career at the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, Blaney had three A-Feature wins and 10 Top-10 finishes.
