When Kerry Madsen returns to his native land of Australia each year to compete during the International season, there are a couple of events that he circles on his calendar, and one of those is the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria.

The native of St. Mary's, NSW, Australia has had a great deal of success in the event and entering Sunday's night's 40-lap finale, he had been victorious in the race three consecutive times.

The reigning Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year made it four consecutive wins in the event, as he bested American Jason Johnson and Australian sprint car legend Max Dumesny. Brooke Tatnell who won twice with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2007 finished fourth, while former series winner Mark Dobmeier was fifth.

After a third-place showing on Friday night in the preliminary feature, Madsen began Sunday night by finishing second in the 14^th heat race. He followed that up with a third-place run in the 17^th heat. Each night of the Grand Annual Classic, 10 heat races were contested, with each driver taking part in two of those during each racing program, and earning points that determined where they would start in the A-Feature.

Madsen lined up fourth for the main event, and quickly moved into third on the opening lap, getting around Johnson. He next set his sights on Ian Loudoun and passed him on the second lap to move into the second position. He then shadowed Dumesny for the next 14 laps, before taking the lead on the 16^th circuit. Madsen would go on to lead the rest of the 40-lap contest, which was run in just under nine minutes. The two-time Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series winner set a torrid pace as only six cars finished on the lead lap.

The win was his second of the International Sprint Car season, as he also was victorious at Perth Motorplex with the World Series Sprintcars back in November.

Madsen will return to action in Australia on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Australian Sprint Car Nationals at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway, before returning to the United States.

The 30^th anniversary Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37^th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, with tickets available at: http://www.VolusiaSpeedwayPark.com.
