Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 16, 2008) – Set for its eighth year of competition, the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region has released an ambitious schedule for the 2008 season.
The ASCS Gulf South Region is currently slated for 26 nights of competition at ten different tracks, with 21 Texas nights and five nights in Louisiana.
The ASCS Gulf South Region fires off to an early start with a February 29 opener at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont, TX, leading into the $3,000 to win Inaugural Gulf Coast Nationals at Houston Raceway Park on March 1.
The series concludes the season on the final weekend of September in the same manner that it starts, with a Motorama-Houston Raceway Park weekend.
During the July Fourth weekend, the ASCS Gulf South Region is slated to take to the Texana Raceway Park in Edna, TX, for the first time.

The American Sprint Cars is the nation's most prevalent Sprint Car sanction body, with the series sanctioning 189 nights of racing at 90 different tracks throughout 25 different states and Canada in 2007, with 866 different drivers competing in at least one event.
