Accelerating Developments International KD-RIG Awarded
"Best Testing Technology of the Year" at Professional Motorsports World Expo
Concord, NC – December 6, 2007 –The KD-Rig, an advanced diagnostic testing system that provides Motorsports teams with detailed data about the chassis and suspension has been voted the #1 Testing Technology for 2007! At a gala dinner attended by over 1000 motorsports specialists, Accelerating Developments International was awarded the Testing Technology of the Year Award at the Professional Motorsport Expo in Cologne, Germany. Sam Tong, Development Engineering Manager accepted the award on behalf the ADI Team. Graham Heeps, editor of Professional Motorsport World said "The best race car technologies are innovative and provide measurable benefits to on-track performance. I for one felt the KD-Rig ticked those boxes, and when the other judges' scores came in, KD-Rig emerged as a clear winner in the Testing Technology of the Year category." "ADI is honored to be recognized by a panel of its peers to receive such a prestigious award. In the world of motorsports, chassis and suspension diagnostics is one of the last frontiers and is often overlooked" said Jay Drake, General Manager /Head of Research and Development at ADI.
The KD-Rig allows for accurate simulations of road and track conditions on chassis and suspension components. The KD-Rig provides precise suspension motion while measuring bump steer, camber change and wheel loads. The KD-Rig also easily allows interference checking throughout the travel range. This system offers up to eight times faster motion coupled with high speed control and data acquisition. The KD-Rig captures specific vehicle characteristics and allows the technician to tune the suspensions while on the simulator. NASCAR teams utilize this testing as a method of gaining an edge on the competition and the KD-Rig allows them to capture repeatability from one vehicle to the next. "Considering the new direction set-up is taking and limited track time, there is no question that ADI with its KD-RIG can sort through the set-up and even eliminate many of the variables encountered during track testing. I feel strongly that the data and information will make a significant difference especially for the smaller teams and single car operations that don't always have the resources available to the Mega Teams. And, with the "unknowns" coming about with NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow, ADI and their KD-RIG can definitely speed the learning curve with this car well before you leave the shop and head for the track." Said Larry McReynolds, Fox Sports Analyst and former NASCAR Crew Chief.
