For Immediate Release - September 16, 2007 - Two-time and defending series champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado leads the O'Reilly National Championship Racing Association late model presented by ICM/Ethanol series into Greenwood, Nebraska for the annual running of the Cornhusker Classic on Saturday night, September 22 at I-80 Speedway. The $3000 to win, $400 to start feature finale will be co-sanctioned by the Topless Outlaw Racing Association (TORA).
When the NCRA last visited the 4/10th mile oval back in May of this year, Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kansas outdueled a stout field of 65 late models to pick up his first and only series feature win of the year. Over forty cars from at least four different states are expected for this one night event.
Boen comes into the night with seven series feature wins on the season and a 525 point lead over Omaha's John Anderson, who has three feature wins this season. Kyle Berk of Marquette, Nebraska has one feature win and currently sits third in points, just sixty points behind Anderson for the runner up position. Thus far, eight drivers in the top twelve in the point standings have competed in all twelve events held this season.
In the series rookie of the year chase, Jimmy Graves of Valley Center, Kansas has a comfortable 138 point lead over Salinas Kelly Dunn.
I-80 Speedway is located off I-80 at exit 420 between Omaha and Lincoln and is part of the Nebraska Raceway Park complex. Gates open at 3:30 PM with racing set to begin at 6:30 PM.
