FASTRAK’S 2nd Annual Charlie Mize Memorial/Shrine Race for Friday July 5th POSTPONED to Saturday July 6th at Lavonia Speedway & Entertainment Complex for Inclement Weather

(Carnesville, Georgia) – FASTRAK Companies International and Lavonia Speedway dignitaries have made the official call to POSTPONE the 2nd Annual Charlie Mize Memorial /Shrine Benefit Race till Saturday July 6thdue to weather. “Mother Nature seems to not want to give us a break so we’ll try again tomorrow. Lavonia Speedway has suffered rainy conditions all week already and Friday’s projected forecast showed no signs of it improving. We are having race teams that plan on making the trip and haul for this event from as high as West Virginia to even low as Florida. It’s in the best interest to look after them before coming here for no reason at all especially cause of the weather that is pummeling the Mid-Atlantic the last 2 weeks now.” stated FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester.




The RAIN DATE again is now rescheduled for Saturday July 6th as it was announced later on in the week. Be advised that in the event that the weather shows no signs of improving or getting better for Saturday there will be an immediate announcement put out to inform everyone. The 2nd Annual Charlie Mize Memorial Shriners 40 Race event which includes a $12,000 purse will be paying a nice $2,000 to the top driver at Lavonia Speedway and Entertainment Complex. Also Chris Knight and the fine staff from City Chevrolet in Charlotte, North Carolina are stepping up offering great bonuses and awards also. We are also honored to have City Chevrolet as the proud sponsor of the sanctioning body for the Southeast/Mideast division for the FASTRAK Racing Series and have stood behind FASTRAK since its inception in some shape or form.


It’s going to be special for many reasons including a spectacular FIREWORKS DISPLAY to close the night. This will be the best place to see FIREWORKS in this part of Georgia for the Independence Day weekend celebration. The race this 4th of July weekend will also be a Shriner Benefit Race supporting the Lavonia area which helps raise money and takes donations through fundraisers and charity events to help families and children with health needs and finances also.




The 2nd Annual memorial race in conclusion is to truly acknowledge a highly respected and great pioneer to the dirt racing community - Charlie Mize. Mize did it all from promoting, managing, racing, flagging and even announcing all over the Southeast. Everyone that knew him says he was a down to earth person who would help anybody personal or on the track in any way he could which people treasure mostly about him.




Lavonia Speedway & Entertainment Complex is a fast, 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval located in Lavonia, Georgia. The storied speed plant commenced operation in 1971 and serves as a weekly facility, running on Friday nights from March into October. They will also be hosting the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for a $10,000 to win event on Tuesday November 5th.




Lavonia Speedway is a family-oriented facility that offers family-friendly pricing. Regular program general admission is just only $9.
