Speedway!! Remember the event back in M
March that was a “buzz” in the
dirt community. The race drew over 70+ late models in 3 different
divisions roaring the Lavonia, Georgia 3/8th mile speed-plant back to
life after 4 years dormant. #1 Brent Dixon from Elberton, Georgia won
the FASTRAK portion of that great event. Thousands of fans flocked the
masses to the newly updated facility that had everyone in shock and awe
of how it changed just over the winter months with hard preparation.
This 4th of July holiday weekend Lavonia’s Max King, Brad York and Stan
Lester are excited and ready to bring back the “Nation’s First and
Premier Pro Late Model Series in the Country” – FASTRAK Racing Series,
celebrating the 10th Anniversary “Decade of Speed Tour”.
Join us on Friday night July 5th for Round #8 of the FASTRAK
City Chevrolet Southeast/Mideast Touring Division paying a $12,000 purse
with $2,000 going to the winner of the 40 Lap A-main. The 2nd Annual
Charlie Mize Memorial Shriners 40 Race event held at Lavonia Speedway
and Entertainment Complex will be special for many reasons including a
spectacular FIREWORKS DISPLAY to close the night. We will be having this
event as a fundraiser for the Shriners in the Lavonia area which helps
raise money and takes donations through fundraisers and charity events
to help families and children with health needs and finances also. The
event is also the 2nd Annual memorial race to truly a highly respected
and great pioneer to the dirt racing community – Charlie Mize. Mize did
it all from promoting, managing, racing, flagging and even announcing
all over the Southeast. Everyone that knew him says he was a down to
earth person who would help anybody personal or on the track in any way
he could which people treasure mostly about him.
Something to think about is in the 7 races in the 2013
FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division their has been 7 different race
event winners. Will we see different winner #8 and speaking of #8 will
Ron Parker the current points leader break through and get to VP Race
Fuels/Hoosier Victory Lane or anyone else when the checkers fall or will
the streak end? These questions will be answered on July 5th.
Lavonia Speedway & Entertainment Complex is a fast, 3/8
mile semi-banked clay oval located in Lavonia, Georgia. The storied
speed plant commenced operation in 1971 and serves as a weekly facility,
running on Friday nights from March into October. They will also be
hosting the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for a $10,000 to win
event on Tuesday November 5th.
Lavonia Speedway is a family-oriented facility that offers
family-friendly pricing. Regular program general admission is just only
$9. We also offer a souvenir shop, full-service concession stand, and
permanent front stretch restrooms. Track side parking is now available
