Accelerating into their second full season of
operation, the staff at St. Croix Valley Raceway has the excitement
level at full-throttle in anticipation of summer racing with the release
of their 2013 schedule. The quarter-mile speedplant, nestled in the
rolling farm country between Centuria and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin,
will once again feature action-packed Friday night racing in five
divisions – Future Fours, Pure Stocks, UMSS Micro Sprints, WISSOTA
Midwest Modifieds, and UMSS Traditional Sprints.
The action officially kicks off with a Thursday night test and tune
session open to all cars on April 25. Racing action starts with a
Thunderous bang the following night, April 26, with the UMSS winged
sprint cars joining the regular classes for the first of five “Thunder
in the Valley” events. Other visits by the UMSS winged sprinters occur
at the Tabor Memorial on May 24, July 26, and the Kouba Memorial on
August 17. After their historic debut a year ago, the IRA Sprints are
returning to the bullring, promising to be bigger, better and faster on
May 31. The Traditional 40 returns for the second year, with the UMSS
Traditional sprints as the headliners for 40 white-knuckle laps of
action on July 12.
If that’s not enough to fill the speed need for sprint enthusiasts,
the season’s highlighting mega-event comes on June 28th and 29th. After
packing the facility beyond the limits of the grandstands last summer,
the second annual Open Wheel Nationals expands to a two-day event for
2013. Friday night features a full show of WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds,
open Modifieds, UMSS Traditional sprints and UMSS winged sprints. Three
classes return on Saturday, with the Midwest Modifieds and Traditional
sprints setting the stage for the huge winged sprint finale.
After nearly 30 years away, Jake Redetzke showed last summer that
Late Models can have as much fun on the bullring as the open-wheel cars,
and the Late Models return for two events in 2013. Bullring Blast #1
throttles around the quarter-mile on Saturday, May 11, along with open
Modifieds, Traditional and Micro Sprints and Purestocks. The second
installment for the Late Models kick starts the Labor Day holiday
weekend with Bullring Blast #2 on August 30.
Not to be outdone, the Modifieds get their chance to shine as they
headline the Modified Dawg Days Dash on July 18. The Modifieds have
historically provided some of the most exciting, nail-biting,
multi-groove competition at the Raceway, and the hot July weather is
certain to be matched by the hot Modified racing action for the Dawg
Days Dash.
Regularly scheduled events will once again start with a 7:05 green
flag at The Valley’s number one Friday night family friendly
destination. Be sure to take in these events plus many others, including
Ultimate Kids Night on August 2, which features “The Big Bike
Giveaway”, where dozens of bikes will be raffled off for the kids! Other
events include the Hilarious Trailer races on June 14, the massive
Fireworks extravaganza on July 5, Fan appreciation night on August 23
and the Crash-Tastic Smash-O-Rama on September 14. Also building on last
year’s success, another “Arrive and Drive” event will be held on
September 7 and track activities wrap up with a Swap Meet and Test Drive
on October 5. Fans can follow St. Croix Valley Raceway on Facebook, and
