Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints Swing Back Into Action With Three Consecutive Double Header Weekends By Jeffrey Sachse McHenry, IL, July 10, 2012: After a one week hiatus in the 2012 Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series Schedule, the Midwest's finest 410 sprint racers are set to roar back into action with three consecutive double-header weekends. Several competitors used the break in the schedule to compete in the World of Outlaws. IRA Series regulars Bill Balog, Mike Reinke, Todd King, Kris Spitz, Matt Vandervere, Wayne Modjeski, Russel Borland, Russ Egan, Bill Warren, Phillip Mock, Scott Uttech, Jereme Schroeder, Johnny Fahl, Brandon Thone and Brian Portschy all turned laps with the World of Outlaws in their Wisconsin events this past week. Reinke was notable in running among the leaders at Beaver Dam before being sidelined with mechanical issues, while Balog finished both events in the top 12. For the next three weeks fans can fill their Friday and Saturday Nights with open-wheeled 410 Sprint Car action as the series travels the state of Wisconsin appearing at six different tracks. Five of those visits will mark the first appearance at the track for the series this season. It all begins with the series first ever trip to Mississippi Thunder Speedway on Friday Night July 13th. Located near Fountain City, WI, the 1/3 mile clay oval is on the site of the former Fountain City Speedway. Revamped, reshaped and rebuilt Mississippi Thunder Speedway has become one of the states finest motorsports facilities. Racing action is set to get underway with time trials at 6:00pm, and racing action begins at 7:00pm. In addition to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints the track will host USRA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. Mississippi Thunder Speedway is located at 2895 Hwy 35, Fountain City, WI. You can consult the track website http://www.mississippithunder.com for addition event details. The following night, Saturday July 14th, the series packs up and heads north in scenic Western Wisconsin as the stars of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints make their lone stop of the season at Rice Lake Speedway. For the first time in two years, the winged outlaw Sprint Car drivers of the Interstate Racing Association (IRA) are set to invade Rice Lake Speedway. The first IRA sanctioned race at Rice Lake Speedway was run in 2006 with Scott Neitzel picking up the victory. Neitzel repeated his win in 2007 and other race winners at Rice Lake have included Billy Balog in 2008, Tim Kaeding in 2009, and when the IRA last raced in Rice Lake in 2010, the winner was Brooke Tatnell. Sam Hafertepe set the current track record in 2006 when he cranked off a 12.225 second lap on the third-mile track. Along with the Sprint Cars a full program of racing action is on tap for the Rice Lake Speedway event. joining the sprint cars will be WISSOTA-sanctioned Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Street Stocks along with the Rice Lake Pure Stocks. Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile north of Rice Lake Wisconsin midway between state highway 48 and Barron County SS. The pit gate is expected to open at 4:00 p.m., the grandstands at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying for the Sprint Cars is slated for 6:30 p.m. The following week on Friday Night July 20th, the series heads to "Wisconsin's Horsepower Half-mile" with the first of two planned stops in 2012 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway. The series will conclude its season at the facility in late September. The fastest track on the 30 race schedule this season the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint drivers reach speeds of 140 miles per hour. In addition to the 410 sprints, the popular Badger Modified Tour is on the schedule of the evening's events. IRA sprint car hot laps take place at 6 p.m. with qualifying and racing to follow. The following evening on Saturday, July 21st the series heads back to familiar territory with its fourth stop of the year at Wilmot Raceway. The event should prove to be a true spectacle in open-wheeled racing action as the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be joined by the All-Star Circuit of Champions in a combined program. Nearly 40 sprint cars are expected for the contest. The Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints and the tracks own Modified class will be joining the program.
