BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA SPRINTS MAKE FIRST TREK OF SEASON TO SOHKOSH SPEEDZONE
Press Release Submitted by StanM on 06/18/2012 at 5:32 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

June 17, 2012; Oshkosh, WI -  It's wide, it's fast, and it's about to be visited by 900 horsepower winged invaders!  The Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway will play host to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Cars this Friday evening June 22nd.  The 1/3 mile clay oval located at the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is known for it's ample supply of racing room, where the turns provide space for three and four wide racing.  The sweeping turns allow for the 410 winged sprints to approach 120 mph providing fans with some of the best side by side racing that can be found.

A field of nearly 30 cars is expected for the June 22nd event.  Last season A-main wins at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway went to Bill Balog and Mike Kertscher.  Those two drivers currently head up the win list in 2012.   Defending four time Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Champion Balog has captured five victories, while Kertscher has collected two wins including the most recent event held at Beaver Dam Raceway this past Saturday.

Both drivers are expected to be on hand at the Speedzone.

Other top contenders include Mike Reinke who has one event win to his credit so far in 2012 when he took top honors at Cedar Lake Speedway and he sits a mere four points behind Balog in the title chase.  Reinke narrowly missed winning the event at Beaver Dam last week finishing runner-up to Kertscher after being passed on the final lap of the contest.  Reinke is primed for another win.  Two-time series champion Scott Neitzel should also factor into those leading the charge for the checkered flag come Friday Night.

Tommy Sexton also has tasted victory this season and would like to add to his win total by contending for the checkered flag at The Speedzone, the 2011 Wilmot Raceway champion has had a habit of running near the front of the pack with some especially strong performances so far in 2012.

Other top ten drivers expected to give the event at Oshkosh Speedzone a shot include, Phillip Mock, Russel Borland, Kris Spitz, leading series rookie Robbie Pribnow and Scott Uttech.

Bill Wirth who fell just 11 laps short of a win last week at Beaver Dam is looking to back up that performance with a solid run at "The Zone".

In addition to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints the tracks own Modified division will be on hand.  Known as "Wisconsin's Modified Action Track" the Oshkosh Speedzone has averaged nearly 40 cars a week in the class.   The IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds will also be on hand for the race program.  Racing will start at 7:00pm

Adult admission is just $20.00. Students ages  11 through 15  are admitted for $10.00 and children 10 and under are admitted free.  For additional information consult the track website at www.oshkoshspeedzone.net
