May 22, 2012; Wilmot, WI - The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints heads to its first double-header weekend of the 2012 racing season as the 900 horsepower winged open-wheeled machines head to two Wisconsin tracks in two days. It will be a "battle of the bullring" weekend as both the Wilmot Raceway and 141 Speedway tracks are known for their close quarters action.
For both tracks it will mark the second appearance of IRA sprint tour this season.
First up will be a stop at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin for the running of the Wayne Daun - Al and Marie Winkler Memorial race. The third mile clay oval in southeastern Wisconsin plays host to the 410 sprints on Saturday night May 26th. When the series appeared at the track two weeks ago the pits swelled with over 30 sprint cars. Bill Balog would top the contest after a torrid late race duel with Mike Kertscher.
The Wilmot Raceway event will see Street Stocks, Mini-Sprints and 4 Cylinders join the program for a full evening of racing action. Adult admission for the event is just $20 and members of the armed forces with a military ID will receive $5 off the admission price. Children ages 8 through 11 are admitted for $5 and youngsters ages 7 and under are admitted free. Racing is set to start at 6:45pm.
The tour then packs up and heads north for a stop at 141 Speedway located near the town of Francis Creek for a show on Sunday Night, May 27th. The track which was turned to a third-mile clay oval in 2010 played host to the season opening show for the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints this year. The event was captured by Bill Balog who outran Mike Reinke. Since that show Balog has gone on to win every feature race so far in 2012.
The 141 Speedway show will see Street Stocks and Sport 4's also join the program. Racing is set to get underway at 6:00pm. Admission prices for this event will be $20 for adults. Students and Seniors are admitted for $15 and children under age 12 can attend for FREE with a paid adult admission.
A solid turnout of the IRA stars will be on hand for both races.
Four-time and defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Champion Bill Balog has been flawless so far this year winning three straight feature victories. Several drivers are primed to try and keep him from victory lane.
Most notable in their effort should be Mike Kertscher who has finished runner-up to Balog in the two most recent events. Mike Reinke should also prove to be a factor for victory having finished in the runner-up slot in the season's earlier appearance at 141 Speedway. Reinke also turned in the fastest qualifying effort at the most recent event at Beaver Dam Raceway and charged to a third place finish.
Balog currently sits atop the standings with 445 points. Reinke sits in the number two slot with 405 markers and Kertscher ranks third with 382.
All of the top ten point drivers including Scott Neitzel, Russel Borland, Dave Uttech, Bill Warren, Phillip Mock, Tommy Sexton and Scott Uttech are expected to compete in both events.
The two top rookie contenders Blake Nimee and Robbie Pribnow will also continue their battle over the weekend. Nimee currently has a slim 10 point margin on Pribnow.
