Showdown “Down Under:” Jason Meyers is ready to take on Australia’s best When Jason Meyers arrives in Australia next week he better be prepared for all the continent offers. For example, did you know that Australia is home to over 1500 species of spiders, the Australian Alps, or Snowy Mountains as they are also known, receive more snow than Switzerland, or the Great Barrier Reef is the largest organic construction on Earth? As the two-time World of Outlaws Champion prepares to travel “Down Under” with his family, the best drivers in Australia are preparing for a showdown with the hottest driver in America. For the second year in a row the Californian Champion will once again join forces with Steve Caunt Racing to pilot the Fire Service Plus SCR14 in 7 events. Meyers’ tour in the SCR14 will begin at Sydney Speedway on December 26. Then once the New Year rings in, Meyers will race events at Sydney Speedway and Warnambool. Included in these events, are racing staples in Australia like the Scott Darley Challenge and The Famed Classic. Meyers has beat Australia and America’s best three times on the Australian dirt. His first came in 2001 at Perth. His second victory came in 2007 at Parramatta City Raceway when he beat Kerry Madsen, Donny Schatz and Steve Kinser to the finish line. Then last year, Meyers won the first night of “The Classic” in the SCR9 when he narrowly crossed the finish line in front of Joey Saldana. Jason Said Today Saturday morning Australian Eastern standard time from his home in California “I am really looking forward to running in Australia this year,” explained Meyers.I am especially looking forward to taking on Sydney Speedway this season after being absent the last couple of years due to other commitments. Rod Britton, Dennis Newlyn, the Five Owners and the staff at Sydney Speedway have been working hard to put a great racing program together for this upcoming season and we are looking forward to participating in some of the greatest races in Australia. I have always enjoyed the racing at Sydney Speedway and the opportunity to race for the Steve Caunt Racing Team owned by Steve and Dee-Ann Caunt is a great opportunity. We had a good run last season at the Classic and we are looking forward to continuing the drive towards victory this year.” In addition to taking on Australia’s best drivers and a few American Outlaws, The Classic will qualify Meyers for the World Challenge at the 2012 Knoxville Nationals. This will give Elite Racing a chance to win not only one race Nationals weekend, but a second one as he takes on the best drivers in the World.
