Bill Balog & B Squared Motorsports: “Rain, Rain Go Away”
Press Release Submitted by StanM on 09/09/2011 at 5:53 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

9/9/11 (BG Motorsports PR) – Three nights of IRA sprint car action were on the schedule for Labor Day weekend, first up was the 10th Annual Thiel Memorial at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam. Just as the teams were set to begin motor warm ups & finish packing the track in, Mother Nature had another idea & the skies opened up. With rains earlier in the day, the track couldn't take any more water & the event was canceled.

Next up on the weekend was a visit to the Plymouth Dirt Track & the Sheboygan County Fair in Plymouth. With rain all around the area, the event was put in to hurry mode in hopes of getting everything complete. The night started with Bill piloting the HRP Wings 17B to his 3rd quick time of the year with a lap time of 11.918 seconds. In the 10 lap heat he took the green from position #6. When the green flew Bill wasted little time on getting to work & moved in to the top 5 right away. He didn't settle there as he continued to pick cars off through out the 10 laps & when the checkered flew he made his way to the 3rd spot which transferred him right to the 30 lap feature. The #3 pill was pulled once again for feature inversion, which lined up the BLZ / Astro Titanium 17B outside row #3. After a brief rain shower & a little time to rework the track, the cars were called to the track & everyone was ready to go racing. As the field raced their way through turns 1& 2 on lap 1, Bill had picked off a car or two until he was driven in to going down the back straight away, by the same car that took him out at Beaver Dam Raceway on night #1. As a result of the contact, the front axle & nose wing was completely damaged resulting in a trip to the work area. The crew along with the help of others tried their all to get things fixed but the damage was too extensive & the night was over before completing 1 lap in the feature. Bill was officially scored in the 22nd position.

The 3rd & final night of the weekend was set to take place at the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI. Bill & the team had won the previous 2 race this year at the facility, so they were looking forward to the event. Just as team started rolling in to the pits, the skies once again opened up for a couple brief showers. After delaying the start of the show, the rain moved out & the sun began to poke through. Cars were called to the track to help with packing. Just as the track was beginning to take shape another heavy shower hit the 1/3 mile oval, this one proved to be too much & for the 2nd time on the weekend, the event was canceled.

This coming weekend marks the final multi race weekend for the 2011 season, Friday, Bill & the rest of the IRA will be in action at the Amsoil Speedway in Superior, WI for the annual Northern Nationals. Saturday it's on to the Cedar lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for the $5,000 to Win Jerry Richert Memorial.
