Hamilton, NJ- Coming off of a win and two top tens a week prior, it was safe to say the Shark Motorsports team had momentum coming into this weekend. Logan Schuchart had piloted the 1s to a win in his last race against a very stacked field at Selinsgrove. The team would be competing at Trail Way Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway, and Lincoln Speedway this past weekend.
Friday July 22nd- Trail Way Speedway
The Shark Motorsports 1s was one of 24 358 sprint cars in the pit area Friday night at Trail Way Speedway. Logan lined up for the feature event in the tenth starting spot, and would work his way up to sixth at the checkers.
“We were too tight,” the driver said. “We had the car set up more for a dry track, but the track was actually pretty wet. We had the car tightened up for the track to be dry.”
Cris Eash took the feature win over Billy Dietrich, Tim Wagaman, Jeff Rohrbaugh, and Dale Hammaker.
Saturday July 23rd- Selinsgrove Speedway
On Saturday, the 1s headed up to Selinsgrove Speedway. With 30 358 sprint cars in the pits, Logan would start eighth in his heat race. Logan would finish fifth with Matt Boland getting the win.
“We had a bad heat race. Selinsgrove is one of those places that if you don’t get a good start, your going to stay where your at because everyone is so fast there,” Logan stated.
Logan would line up fourteenth for the feature. By lap ten, he was up to fifth. Logan would eventually make his way up to third and finish there, behind Pat Cannon and Phil Walter.
“We really only had one caution the whole race,” said the driver of the 1s. “We just ran out of time.”
Sunday July 24th- Lincoln Speedway
There were 33 358 sprint cars in the pits at Lincoln Speedway Sunday night for the final night of the Trail Way- Lincoln shootout. Logan won his heat race after starting second. For the feature event, Logan would line up sixth for the start.
The 1s was able to get by a couple of cars on the start. By lap seven, Logan was able to pass Billy Pauch Jr. for the race lead. At the finish, Logan beat Pauch Jr. by over 1.54 seconds. Jeff Rohrbaugh, Cris Eash, and Niki Young would round out the top five.
“I knew if we were going to run good we would have to make passes early. I was able to run the middle of the track early on, but after we got the lead the track started to catch rubber so I went down to the bottom and finished the race out there. The feature was mainly a one groove track since we ran after the 410’s,” Logan said.
The win earned Logan 50 points towards the Central PA racing series for 358 sprint cars presented by Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic. Currently, Logan leads the point standings over Pat Cannon by an 84 point margin.
