ASCS Regions Clash Saturday at Deep South Speedway
Press Release Submitted by BigDog on 09/04/2007 at 7:18 PM Send To Friend | Report Press Release

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 4, 2007) – For the fourth time this season the American Sprint Car Series Coastal and Rebel Regions will clash, as Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, will host the Regional Clash for the $2,000 to win Alabama State Championship.

And current ASCS Coastal Region points leader Michael Dupuy of Amite, LA, probably won't mind the matchup at all, as he has topped the last two ASCS Coastal vs. Rebel Region events, including one this past Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

The one Coastal vs. Rebel Region event that escaped Dupuy's grasp, however, was the season-opening card at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL.

While Dupuy lead the ASCS Coastal cast into the event, Pierson, Florida's T.J. Winegardner leads the ASCS Rebel Regional troops into the affair as the Rebels try to tackle a Regional showdown victory.

With five overall ASCS Coastal Region wins this season, Dupuy enters the weekend with an 84-point advantage over fellow Louisiana racer Michael Herrington.  Other top ASCS Coastal shoes include Robert Casada (Petal, MS), Todd Fayard (Saucier, MS), Shane Morgan (Biloxi, MS), Timmy Thrash (Gulfport, MS), Lane Whittington (Denham Springs, LA) and Hunter Phillips (Gulfport, MS).

Winegardner's current ASCS Rebel lead stands at 32 points over Brian Thomas of Pendergrass, GA, with other top Rebel runners including Tyler Godwin (Lutz, FL), Matt Linder (Hoschton, GA), Kenny Adams (Malabar, FL) and Bryn Gohn (Malabar, FL).

Saturday night's ASCS Coastal vs. Rebel Region event at Deep South Speedway fires off at 7:00 p.m.

Deep South Speedway is located in Loxley, AL, off I-10 Exit 44, then four miles north on SR 59, then ¾-miles west.  For more information contact the track at 251-964-6953.

The ASCS Coastal Region 2007 slate consists of 17 events at ten different tracks throughout Mississippi and the surrounding area including portions of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

The ASCS Rebel Region sanctions Sprint Car racing throughout Georgia, Alabama and North Florida, with 16 events at eleven different tracks currently on the slate.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series.  With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
